Under what circumstances would Aquaman be a viable superhero?
Although he has "super" powers, what good are his powers in the usual crime fighting, super villain defeating scheme of things? |

He could be like Scotty and say ''their be whales here'' after he calls one.
I'm sure Japanese fishing ships would love to hire him to call in huge catches of fish. |

It's how Superman wound up being able to move planets. Yeah sadly depending on the writer a hero can move planets in one book and then can barely move a mountain on the next one. Lack of consistency in the DC universe is annoying. It's even worse when the cartoons like super friends makes them out to be even weaker. |

I always kind of thought he was useless, like Spider-Man.
Put them both in the middle of North Dakota. Command water or swing from a sky scrapper now, boys. |

"He Super Friends! Is there a bank robbery??"
"Yes, Aquaman" "Oh boy! Are the crooks getting away undersea, or do they have a hideout on the bottom of the ocean??" "Of course not, you idiot." |

You do realize you are complaining about a fictional character in a comic book, aimed at children aged 11 to 14, don't you?
Oh wait. I forgot. I'm sorry. |
|
Yeah the super powers are all over the place depending on who is writing.
as i recall aquaman was equally as powerful as wonderwoman as their people used to fight and such. |

Anyone who says Aquaman is useless, listens way to much to that useless punk Seth MacFarland. When the 90s comic came out he was more hardcore than Batman. His brother made him cut off his own hand and replace it with a trident. Because of the Ocean pressure he's as strong as Superman. In Brightest Day he commanded an undead army of giant squids and sharks.
In the campy 60s tv series he was very weak if you removed him from water. They've corrected that problem since. |

The State (skit comedy show) did a Superfriends bit.. Freaking hilarious.
Everyone is hanging out in the halls of justice, when Superman flies in and announces come catastrophe. He tells WW to get in her invisible jet to go do something, Batman and Robin, etc etc.... Superman has a plan for everyone to do something.... And finally says "And you, Aquaman..... <long pause>.... Go talk to some fish!!" All of the superfriends just bust out laughing at Aquaman. That was 20+ years ago and I still remember it! |
