Law enforcement is on scene following an incident at Bridgewater Plaza.

The incident happened during a WDBJ7 live report.

Deputies from Franklin County and Bedford County are on scene.

Moneta, Va. – Police are currently investigating what appears to be a suspected active shooter situation at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Virginia.

The situation involves a crew from a local CBS news station, WDBJ.

During a live interview from Bridgewater Plaza, approximately eight gunshots are heard as a reporter is seen interviewing someone on screen. The camera then drops to the ground and the broadcast cuts back to the anchor desk.

ETA - The shooter's name is Vester L. Flanagan - also know as Bryce Williams, former reporter for WDBJ7. The evil mentally ill piece of shit filmed himself walking up to the news crew and shooting them while they were reporting on the 50th Anniversary of Smith Mountain Lake. He has evidently killed himself - I hope the motherfucker burns for eternities.

Guy just walked up during a live interview and started shooting up the crew and the person being interviewed. Sounded like he did a damned mag dump on them!

Facebook and Twitter posts from friends in the area are saying possibly 3 dead, and or 5 injured. The video is very abrupt. The reporter is doing an interview about the 50 year anniversary of the lake and shots come from behind the camera. Screen grabs are showing the gunman. He is dressed in black, what appears to be a beard, no real expression on his face.

Local media just updated and said 3 people involved. So the 5 number may not be accurate.

The camera man caught the a glimpse of the guy on camera. He just walked up to them with his left hand in his pocket and his right holding a handgun like it was no big deal. This shit is crazy, especially when it's in your backyard.
