You're spending too much time in GD.   Technical forums seem solid.

I don't think it will be gone anytime in the near future. However, as proven with some of the polls that age of arfcom is impacted it.

It's changing.  Everything changes.  You have to learn to live with it, I guess.  I've been here a looooong time and seen a lot of changes.

It's gotten way too heavy handed.  Long time members getting banned for perceived slights by special snowflakes.

See, that's BS.  And that is the excuse everyone always gives, but over the course of years I have seen major changes.  I don't blame bronies, they are the symptom.  We had gun panic after gun panic tha drove idiots to the site now we are stuck with them.

Oh you mean the membership.  I cant think of any other conservative\libertarian leaning forum on the web that has anywhere near these numbers.

I've been on a lot of dying forums and Arfcom isn't showing any of the symptoms yet.

I don't think so.  There are way more kiddos trying to be edgy or whatever they call being an ass these days.  It seems like the post-per-day race and +1 threads has changed how people post as well.  It is really screwing up the signal-to-noise ratio.

The only people complaining is a small minority of the older members. I've made friends with quite a few longtime members here, some locally and some that I've just talked to on the phone a few times. I think people just need to get the sand out of their vaginas. Vagisil is in the family planning section at walmart, yeah, I've had to use it before too. Shit works.

I've noticed the last few weeks ...blame school out. But posters trying to damn hard to be funny.

Its like having a bunch of older guys around a camp fire...busting jokes...sipping whiskey and after a gut busting storying the teenager on the edge bust out with...

"Yeah kinda like getting cuaght jerking off to your mom right?  "

And all the old dudes turn...and go WTF did you eat fishing weights Jimmy or you just that dam retarded .who does that shit.....

And his buddy who tagged along goes
"Your mom jerked me off "
And they laugh at each other

And the old guys sit there ...just in awe of the dumbfuckness that just happened.

That's how GD feels to me .....

But I'm a tech forum Guy....so maybe its just me.

Lol

Some choose to fly closer to the sun than others.

Some of those get burnt.

Some are more equal. Its a private site.  Whether I agree with that or not doesn't change that fact.

Does Arfcom still not allow free email accounts to register? That is a large chunk of trolls stopped right there.

Also, what happened lately/last night that got tears in arfcom's beers? Can someone post a link.

Change is inevitable, grow or die.

That's not to say all change and all growth is beneficial, but it can't be avoided; so the DU Jaxson Raine types who are "just here for the political debate" have discovered this place and they're here to stay if they remain within the CoC.

I wouldn't use visitor metrics for this type of thing... I would suspect visitors has a direct correlation to the panics or events that causes them to rush over here.

DU's have infiltrated this forum, I can see that from a mile away, in fact, there are several members here whom have proudly admitted to it and they are still here.

Also, I'd be willing to bet the amount of Kardashian/Caitlin, Tranny, Gay, and anti-religious threads have a lot to do with a lot of people not wanting to get so much into GD.  Sometimes I think that this place has more Kardashain threads than a Yahoo/People article

No, it is not dying.  It is always changing as it always has since 1998.

the inflection point where it did really change is with ETH's passing.  This place was not the same since.

Arf is far more liberal and PC now then its ever been.

I hav also seen a change in the tech forums and find myself at snipershide more and more when I need technical data.  In my experience, arf is becoming more focused on low dollar equipment, whereas snipershide continues to be focused on top shelf gear.

Yes, there are exceptions but I noticed when people talk top shelf anything, people justify how primary arms gear is just as good as high end shit.   Fo example, when speaking of the best optics, people recommend low end to mid end glass and never high end.  It's just the demographic of the site.

When it comes to the EE, high end gear never sells, I don't even get tire kickers, which means it always sells on other more technical websites.

Nowadays, I just come on arf for the absurdity of GD when I want to kill time.  No real point to come to this site for anything else.

It is what it is, shit comes and goes.
