I bought my first "good" knife a D2 mini griptillian. I lost it 2 weeks ago. Looking to replace it, I stumbled across the Benchmade 940-1 with carbon fiber handle and an S90V blade. Anybody have some input? Seems like a nice upgrade from the mini grip, which I loved. Any other Benchmades you guys would recommend? No serrations, and no thumb holes please

I love Benchmade D2
I EDC a paramilitary 2 but an axis lock with D2 is tough to beat IMO

Any benchmade that you like the looks/specs of should make you happy.

I can't help you further because I'm a spyderco/ZT guy when it comes to folders.

Benchmade 940 is good, but I don't like the blade shape. I personally like the 710 better or go with a Spyderco PM2.

I've lost my Lg. Sebenza several times.  Fortunately,  it's always come back.

The size is a concern. The weight doesn't worry me as much as the size. I'm trying to picture the dimensions but it's hard without physically holding it.

Yeah I lost my Sebenza once as well and nearly had a heart attack. The pocket clip on a Sebenza is not good for EDC, and therefore I do not carry mine anymore.

Coincidence?

I think not.  I've been eyeing one for a while.  But I want to see one in person just to make sure it's what I want before I spend that much.

It's a great knife, I don't think you'd be disappointed...

FWIW, here's a comparison to my 581, roughly the dimensions of a full-size Griptillian.  The 581 is also a great choice with awesome steel, BTW...

And finally, can't have a knife thread without mentioning the Zero Tolerance 562cf...

I have collector knives, but only one EDC. I guess I don't see much reason to have more than one EDC?

That is quite a bit narrower then the 581 I see. That was another consideration.

If you work in an office like I do, the smaller ZT0770CF carbon fiber is amazing, light and its a ZT

Changed from my EDC Benchmade Auto to this ZT and love it.

It has a very thin and light profile, I got a deep carry clip and I barely feel it in my front pocket.

Very nice knife. Benchmade is definitely known for it's quality and that has some very nice materials. I am sure you would be happy since you carried a Benchmade before. I have just never cared for Benchmade's thumbstuds. I have been pretty loyal to Spyderco since I picked up two of the originals back in 1991.

Benchmade 710, in D2 steel.  Love mine, had it for probably 6 years now.
