I hear these are fun as fuck, especially after some bolt ons and a tune.

Needs one of those Japanese mufflers so it can pass Corvettes

Do it! They're like an angry go kart.
I've got a Focus ST and it's fun as hell! |
If you wait until fall you might be able to find a Focus ST for that same money.
The last two falls my local Ford dealer has had a Focus ST for $21.5k. It wont be a fully loaded model, but it will get you into a bit larger car and IRS. I am also hunting for a new enjoyable daily driver, and the Fiesta ST and Focus ST are at the top of my list. The Fiesta ST is just too close to the Focus ST pricing for me. |

That's going to be about $15k more. 21.5 vs. 36.5 is a big difference. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

For me the rs has more power and awd vs fwd, bigger. that makes it worth the added expense. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Im sure they are a lot fun with FBO and a tune. But I'd have a hard time dropping that kind of coin when I see BMW 135s going for like 15K (which imo is crazy cheap for the amount a car you get.) Yeah yeah, BMW/German cars out of warranty, but if you can wrench, they are super easy cars to work on and the N54 parts are cheap. You can make crazy HP/torque numbers with a couple grand.
Ive seen 135s for as low as 12K. Im about to buy another one just to play with. |
RS is very tempting as well but I like the size of the Fiesta. I don't need space really, I just want a fun little car that doesn't sound like it's falling apart.
I passed on both and got a BRZ, but it's the one of least practical cars, ever.

I like tuning, and have a personal/company mechanic do all my work for cheap. A nice used 135 would be delicious. My concern is parts cost. My dad's CLS is $1500 for this or that when it's in the shop, which is what I'm afraid of with the BMW. Not so much engine parts, but drivetrain and suspension are what worry me. |

I had a new focus for a bit. I'm not a small guy. My lats didn't fit between the bolsters in the seats so it was horribly uncomfortable to drive for extended periods of time. Definitely make sure the car isn't too small for you.
Get rid of two of the doors, and my cheap ass would actually get one!
That's a good price, though. Damn you, now I'm thinking about it. |
$21K OTD if it has all of the options is good deal. Usually they're either zero options of fully loaded...sunroof/stereo-nav/recaros/painted rims/calipers. I love mine, very economical and absolutely the best handling fwd car I've ever been in. If it has recaros make sure you fit in them.
Sounds solid.
Drove one based on the Top Gear Perfect Road Trip episode where Hamster had one barreling through the Italian countryside. It is the best hot hatch - currently. |
There's a used Focus ST in the EE for around that price.
I've always kinda liked em. |
I wish I could fit in one, because it would become my daily driver.
I'm looking at the Focus ST a little later on............after having driven one, I really like it
I have avoided driving one now that my daughter is forward facing because I'm terrified that I will love it, and I think it'd be the perfect car for me.

My 2005 Mustang is slowly reaching its demise. The Fiesta is smaller (outside), bigger interior space, lighter, more efficient, and more powerful. Plus with 0% financing I'm looking at about a $300 payment, which is totally doable. Insurance would go down too. The bolsters on the recaro's soften up after a few thousand miles. I love my ST, just debating if I should upgrade to an RS.
Go for it. There's a bunch of STs at the local autocross and with the right driver they're freakishly quick. The Focus dominates G Street and the Fiesta cleans up in H Street.
BTW, that's not an ST in the OP. Looks like some weird sticker package Euro base model. And people suggesting the RS for nearly twice the price. |

you want something small fast and fun go for a civic SI...i'd take a civic or toyota car over a ford car any day of the week

I personally love my Focus ST. I'd imagine the Fiesta is just as fun. I'm hanging on to my ST until the twin-turbo V8 Raptor hits the market in 2017
I've been looking at them for the past year. The only problem is that I live two miles down a white rock road. I've heard the suspension is ridiculously stiff, so it may get beat to pieces on my road.

Parts cost isnt bad at all, in fact you'd prob be surprised how cheap they are when you buy online and can wait a few days for them to arrive. And its not the suspension or drivetrain you need to worry about, its various oil leaks and some of the things that bolt to the engine(water pump and injectors for example) that are common failure points. There are lemons out there but despite everything I hear and read my 335 has been solid so far for the 20k miles Ive owned it and pretty much all those miles have been almost double the engine output that it makes from the factory and I floor it everywhere. |

I would never drive around in a cheap little car...I think it would be embarrassing.

No. Spend 6-8k more, buy Subaru WRX. Then you won't be shoehorned into some tiny, wrong wheel drive econobox.
