Almost 14 years after the horrific events of 9/11, three young men are finally getting their victims compensation money.
Tyshawn Ward, Trent Ward and Dujon Holland failed to receive the $1million they were entitled to after their father John Holland was killed at the age of 30 while working in the kitchen at Windows of the World. Making matters worse is the fact that the three boys grew up in poverty never even knowing about the money. Tyshawn currently lives in Hawaii and served in the United States Navy while Trent is attending Long Island University where he is studying biology. Sounds like at least two of them have made something of themselves, so we can also surmise somebody didn't read the article. |

No, you're equating the results of poor life choices to a tragic loss of life. It's good that they still grew up fairly decent, but it doesn't change the fact that they suffered because of something none of them could have prevented. |

How long until the state sues to get there EBT back and get those democrats back on the roles.

Can someone explain why money was given to these and other families that lost members in 9-11?

The Airlines decided it would be better to give the victims' families $1M apiece rather than risk being sued. So Congress did just that. Victims Compensation Fund |

Given how they are currently living, the money won't help for long

It would appear some folks here get ripped jumping to conclusions.
Reading is for sucka's. I wish them the best and hope they get the guidance they deserve. |

If you could take the ignorance and stupidity posted in this thread to this point and refine it down to its purist form you would have the most toxic substance known to man.

Shit like this thread is why democrats get so many free votes. Here you have a guy who was born a minority, had his dad (who was working at the time) murdered by terrorist just because he was trying to EARN a living then had his compensation withheld. Instead of playing the victim card the guy enlisted in the military (hopefully to get some payback on the guys who murdered his dad) and served his country. Wow.

Damn some of you guys must have seen Tyshawn and Dujon and jumped to conclusions. Read the article next time.

Better late than never and they are still young. They may even be in a better position now to receive such sudden wealth. |

Wow such empathy for terror attack victims around here! View Quote I watched for years as they all fought over the World Trade Center money ... rushing to calculate who's life was worth more ... Then I watched the ticker on the deaths of thousands of warfighters to see how many millions/billions would be divided amongst them ... |

Tyshawn currently lives in Hawaii and served in the United States Navy while Trent is attending Long Island University where he is studying biology. I don't know what to tell you here. . . . Most folks who grow up in poverty, who happen to receive a 6 figure lump sum check, chose to spend that money piss poorly. I read the article, and even read the comments, and frankly I bet that if someone were to follow up on this story in the next two years odds are that at least 2 out of the 3 of them will have already blown through their cash. This isn't rocket science. FYI, I grew up in a navy town. Those guys spend their signing bonuses so fucking poorly (tricked out ricers are a fast sell here) I could only imagine what a young sailor would do with 300 grand. . . probably not hookers and blow since it's a "she" in this instance. Flame on but spare me your false outrage. |

It's a good thing I lost my faith in humanity a while back, else this thread would be doing some serious damage.
