While the new tan Stroms are gorgeous,
Tiger 800 XC. with tubless conversion. tubes suck Almost the perfect bike. I regret selling mine a few months ago for an FJR.. |

Was looking at the R1200GS Adventure a couple days ago. That bike is F-A-T. Handlebars are axe-handle wide, and it looks like it would be a SOB to handle on anything other than gravel roads. I, too, am leaning toward the F800 as my next bike. Edit...I mean look at this fat pig from the front. http://i.imgur.com/rbO49oz.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

BMW F800GSA. I bought mine new, 2015, in desert tan. It tours, does some decent off roading, great range, acceptable handling for mountain roads. All around excellent bike, not sure I would have preferred the 1200 at this point. Was looking at the R1200GS Adventure a couple days ago. That bike is F-A-T. One of the big KTMs.
I currently have a KLR650 and a FJR1300. I love them both but they are completely different animals. A big KTM (990, 1098, whatever) would have the go anywhere of the KLR with the power of the FJR.. or maybe I would hate. I dunno.... |

I always wanted one of those when I rode, no way I would get any use of it now unless toddlers fit in those saddle bags. Wish I had bought one when I was in my twenties. I always wanted to do one of those Alps tours on bikes that they advertised back in the 80s. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The one I already have: Kawasaki Concours C14. It's equally at home droning along the interstates two-up, having fun in the twisties, or anything in-between. Engine is a beast that can do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds but delivers power smoothly across the rev range and doesn't take off without provocation. I can't think of much it can't do, and do well, except for off-road. http://s30.postimg.org/bjgqj4xbl/C14.jpg The bags each take a full face helmet with room to spare, how flexible are the toddlers? Hoping to do the 4 Corners ride when the GF and I retire many years from now. I don't remember the Alps tours that you mentioned, but man, wouldn't that be something? Ahhhhh dreams. |

I saw a couple of 690 Enduro R's mentioned already.
