Check out some sweet dorifto in a Russian made T-72 tank with a Kuwaiti crew at the controls. Aw hell yessssssss, until it all goes wrong. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/you-ever-drift-a-tank-so-hard-you-flip-it-1721850270 |

Same for cars. When you leave the concrete or pavement, that's when the wheels/ tracks stick in the dirt and flip you.
|
|
Do those things have 4-point harnesses? I'm guessing airbags are out of the question :)

It's all fun until she flips. I wonder how the M-3 Grant and M-4 Sherman were. they both had high silhouettes.

Fuck no , i was an excellent driver.....
Loved drifting onto the range pad Gotta make an entrance . |
|

Assuming they flip it back upright, how much damage would that cause? Could it get right back in the fight?
Seems like it rolled pretty smoothly but I could see the turret and drive wheels getting tweaked, to say nothing of stuff like ammo shifting inside. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The video quit a little too soon--looked like it was going to right itself and keep on truckin'.
I know a lady whose son was killed that way in the army--he was sticking out of the turret and it mashed his head flat. |

I'd like to see if it ended upright View Quote I never realized that the Russians used the rounded turret design as a self righting feature on their tanks. If that had been an Abrams it would have slammed down on its roof and stayed there, But with that round top turret she almost made it all the way over. Just needed a little more speed. |

That's a special "Roll away" anti-personnel design feature. Any opposing infantry climbs up on top, whoosh! Roll 'em away! |

I couldn't even imagine rolling inverted in a M1. If that would have happened in Germany we would have been killed by the pogie bait avalanche. Had the breech come open we would have been beaten to death by 5 pound tubes of summer sausage. We used to pack the gun tube full before heading out in the field. Hell, my tank cdr would have died from the lacerations when his 20 or 30 cartons of cigarettes came flying out of the semi ready rack curtain. They have sharp corners, yo! |

We call that "high siding" in the two wheeled world.
Usually not a pleasant outcome. |
