Thoughts on requiring 16-18 year Olds to work on public infrastructure improvements?
I have never heard anyone talk about this sort of thing. It would be like israel"s military service, bUT for public works. myself, I am not for this. I merely offer it for discussion. |

Sounds like a way for those that are older than 16-18 to use youth to their advantage.
It's also antithetical to core US values IMHO. |

I'm not so sure I'd want a bunch of no skill, no experience 16-18 year old kids working on public infrastructure improvements... forced labor or not.

You want people to build highways that can't even put the correct three items in a bag?
|
|
The Unions would never allow that. Gotta pay a guy leaning on a shovel at least $18/hr. If they actually use it the pay goes to $22/hr and if they use it properly they are a high skilled tradesman at $30/hr plus.
|
|
Or, people that are in favor of something like that could go volunteer their own time instead of forcing someone else to work for them.

How about requiring this for welfare recipients? Let the teens live and figure out life for themselves.......soon enough life will have more obligations and less choice.

|
What would you do with the hundreds of thousands of payed workers that are displaced?
|
|
We haven't fucked over the next generation enough? Now we need to force them to pave highways?
|

The lefties around here have really been outing themselves lately.

Ok, OP. |

The state is all.
All must serve the state. For the good of the state. Fuck that retarded, cock gargling bullshit. This thread reeks with the stench of hippie oil. |

Sounds like a great way to spend a nearly infinite amount of money to accomplish absolutely nothing. I wonder where these infrastructure jobs are going to be located.
|
|
It will never happen simply because you would be taking jobs and kickbacks away from friends of political people.

I'd want my 16 year old learning to code and studying science, shadowing at the hospital, taking a night college class, working at starbucks, or being a door to door salesman... not a slave laborer.

I subscribe to the job plan of welfare recipients working 8 hour days 5 days a week. Show up and cut grass at public properties and road sides. With a non powered mower. |

No. I like freedom, thank you very much. If I want my kids to do work at that age I'll lend them to the nearest farm.

Would you be fine with an amendment for all over 18 to do the 2 years as well on their off time from work?
It's always great when you put new rules on younger people, until you are included in those rules. People shouldn't be exempt just because they are above the age when a new rule is put in place. I'm sure if you did it this way, it would be struck down easily, but if you just targeted it towards the young people, it would pass. |

As a father of a handful of teens who could use a good kick in the butt some times...
HELL NO!!! We don't do this sort of thing in America, especially not with MINOR CHILDREN. |
|
Yay.
More experience and examples of how to leech off the government dole is exactly what we need. Customary inefficiency, inability to effectively plan plus institutions with a regular employee pool where 87 percent have perfected the art of loafing/workplace grievances/workplace compensable "injuries"; what could possibly go wrong? We could even start a new civilian VA for these veterans of public service. It's the least we can do for their sacrifice. Be sure to thank them for their service when you see them wearing t shirts identifying themselves as having picked up cigarette butts at Yellowstone. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The part of The Constitution that empowers the federal government to require that the people provide their children for forced labor on behalf of The State......................
It isn't there. |
