Manipulation of idiots. It goes both way. Left is manipulated as is the right. Isis is Al Qaeda rebranded and we supply them. Why? To destabilize the middle east and to keep us in fear of the bogie man. You think IS is just a boogie man? Who keeps our southern border open yet Canadians are hassled when they cross? Who lets MS-13 in this nation? Who lets all the muslims in here too? The biggest threat to our freedom is within. Who spies on all of us? Who gropes your family at the airport. Who threatens to take away your 2A rights and all other rights? Who is going to steal your money, stocks and retirement? |

Conservatives aren't any better.
Shit, how many threads about "the gays" do we create every day here? Conservatives are just as dumb about the same things you list as well, we have to automatically support the dentist that shot Cecil the lion, the Confederate Battle flag, etc. |

Some of it is incrementalism. Get small laws passed on a specific topic, making way for a broader law to be applied when the first law "doesn't do enough".

It's the liberals playbook. Obama's bible. The rules[1] “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition." It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. |

Known in other circles as maskirovka. "The 1944 Soviet Military Encyclopedia defines maskirovka as the "means of securing combat operations and the daily activities of forces; a complexity of measures, directed to mislead the enemy regarding the presence and disposition of forces..."[1] Later versions of the doctrine also include strategic, political, and diplomatic means—including manipulation of "the facts", situation and perceptions—to affect the media and public/world opinion, so as to achieve or facilitate tactical, strategic, national and international goals." It's all distraction from the real important issues. The left is easily distracted and easily amused. Simple minds and all that.

1) Divide and conquer. Distracts people from real issues. 2) Distraction. You want folks to figure out that Dodd-Frank resulted in you becoming an unsecured creditor to your bank? That $100,000 in that account belongs to the bank, not you and you're second in line to a primary creditor. Oh, ditto for those stocks that your brokerage says belongs to you. Distraction also allows for more shenanigans being pulled right in front of the public's face and the public is in total ignorance (or apathy) of it. 3) Take advantage of people's short attention span. Issue doesn't appear in the news, people forget it was the crisis of yesterday. Remember ebola? Turn off the main stream media. BTW, look what Congress has done that doesn't have public support: TARP, 0-Care, Internet kill switch. Will of the people be d*mned. It's what Congress' paymaster wants. Anyone want to comment on the repeal of Glass-Steagall and its implication? View Quote Pretty good summary. Bread and circuses. These inconsequential "news" stories aren't really news in the sense that they should be given national attention. The media outlets need to create a crisis to boost their ratings. The higher the ratings, the more money you can charge for advertising space, think Super Bowl. You also have the real news existing below the surface, that the average Joe Six-Pack were made aware of, there would be a return tar and feathers and lynching on the White House lawn. |

linky “Continuous interpretation is achieved by trying to control every approach to the public mind in such a manner that the public receives the desired impression, often without being conscious of it. High-spotting, on the other hand, vividly seizes the attention of the public and fixes it upon some detail or aspect which is typical of the entire enterprise.”

Red herrings. The leftists that control the mainstream media are deliberately trying to change the conversation from planned parenthood, hillary and irs emails, etc.. And it worked - they are masters of manipulating the news cycle because they are the ones controlling the media.

No one really cares about any of these issues, they are all designed to take your eye off the ball. The left goes crazy about a dead lion and the right reacts that it's perfectly ok to hunt lions. Meanwhile Planned Parenthood is literally butchering and selling babies and we continue to fight about bullshit.
This will continue until we destroy ourselves or raise an intelligent generation of people smart enough to stop it. The first part is more likely than the latter. |

It's a trick to get idiots to flap their yaps about something controversial (even if they were the ones who created the controversy) to get soundbites for TV shows like The Daily Show which are pretty much nothing but leftist propaganda. It's a trap that even most of the people getting caught in it don't even know exists.
