Wouldn't mine seeing a little more side wall on the tires and a little less flair on the fenders but yeah I'd drive it.

Point of order: vette is not a muscle car

But they aren't exactly sports cars either.  They seem to be riding the fine line of muscle/sports cars.  A Miata is a sports car.  The latest 700 bhp Chrysler is a muscle car.  The Corvette is a Grand Tour.

Jeez guys, this car has been in his family for years - and it's always been a competition car. He's just carrying on the family tradition. Go to any good size car show in the country and you can see all the restored, garage-queen mid-year Vettes you want. This guy is enjoying his another way - on the track instead of the show field.

This stuff is much, much more than just fashion by the way. There's a huge movement in the muscle/classic car hobby that embraces big-time suspension and driveline mods, and then running them hard on the autocross course and road course. I've been in the muscle car parts business for more than 20 years, and I have to say I prefer seeing the cars getting driven hard and enjoyed versus sitting in a huge parking lot somewhere being looked at. Here's a '77 Trans Am we built at work to beat on at the track. It's got an all-aluminum Butler Performance 500-inch Pontiac, a Tremec 5 speed, and Detroit Speed suspension front and rear. It's a fucking handful but all kinds of fun.

Stance LOL...  What. A. Fucking. Shitbox.

I could tell you who drives a piece of shit $2400 car with $3000 in wheels and suspension lowering in my AO but I am sure I will catch a few days off for COC violations.

Once a child grows up and gets a real job they stop driving shit like this. For a reason.

That thing is butt ugly and those wheels look retarded. I don't get it what was the point? To screw up a classic? You could put ten foot wide tires on that thing and its still gonna handle like a brick unless you seriously modify the suspension at which point you shouldve just got a c5+ to begin with.

This car is a FULL BLOWN race car. It's been auto crossed mostly full time since the early 80's. It IS seriously modified.

I believe it's won the optima shootouts a handful of times, and it cleans up every local auto cross event that it goes too.

If that's not working, well, I don't know what is considered working.    Dan should stick to hunting.

We entered this 67 442 we built for a customer in the '15 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year competition last month. Didn't make the top 5 but we did win a Builder's Choice award - which was nice. It's got a Mast Motorsports 700-horse LS7 and a 6-speed in it, along with 6-piston brakes, Detroit Speed coilover setup, etc. Before the Goodguys show the car went on the Hot Rod Power Tour - about 2000 miles total. These cars run hard and are built to drive - a lot.

(Not mine, FTR, although I've driven them and would gladly take any of them off his (Dad's best buddy from college) hands.  He's always had several 'Vettes in the garage, since I was a kid, though the roster changes over the years.)

Really enjoying laughing my ass off at the purists that never drive their cars. Function is more than a fad, it is eternal because someone is always going to want to be faster. The car is as many here would call an AR, a tool. Yes, it looks cool but ultimately all of it's modifications serve a purpose. That to me is what makes a great car, this is a driver's car. You wouldn't understand that if your idea of a car scene is sitting around in parking lots, in lawn chairs, with stuffed animals on your dash.
ETA: One of my favorites.

Yeah, fools who are panning the rear spoiler and big wheels, this is what that shit is actually for.

No, your bone stock classic C2 does not look better than this, it looks different.
