Note my avatar, son followed my career field. Those who have done this know.

So when someone in a sub or on a ship (not a carrier) needs to hot shot it home, how does it (usually) work?

Saying I'm sorry, just doesn't seem enough. I can not even imagine, as a parent will little ones, losing them is my biggest fear.

I've already been beat on the red cross notification but it got my BiL home in less than 24hrs from Germany.

My condolences OP, I can't even imagine.

Took this a couple of weeks ago. Granny Doom and Mason, she is very close to all of our grandkids, she's hanging in there.

Sorry for your loss but I have to call BS on that statement unless he has a complete ass for a CO. Most of the kids my daughter went to school with had parents that were deployed, a few kids got something terminal of their brothers and sisters did, their father's were home within 24 hours.

I checked all the time on my boys. Even when they where in their teens, I'd sneak in and check if i woke up at night.

I had an older cousin who had twins. This happened to one of them. I guess that was always in the back of my mind.
