Of course it is. Kill your computer......in fact-kill em all. View Quote The adage 'if you're not the customer, you're the product' holds true with Win 10 just like any other software. As far as wanting to collect commercially valuable info, MS is doing that already with the WiFi sharing built into Windows 10. for one example. So tell us again how it's all tinfoil brainwashing? That's what you implied with the 'kill your computer' line. |

Which is A LOT less than your smart phone currently spies on you. It is interesting that corporations have a lot more spying power and leeway than the US government does. (and that power is huge) Of course corporations pretty much run US government as subsidiary business anyway. |

Windows 10 can't spy on you if it won't connect to the internet.
|

Some of that shit is opted on in 8.1.
More and more, I consider anything digital to be widely available to the gov, biz, and public. "It's not a secret if more than one person knows it." |

Well, he posted a link on how to turn one particular snooping function off. I missed the part where he explained all of the snoop functions in Win 10 and showed how to turn all of them off. Or even more than one. But MS surely has our best interests at heart. |

Spying on me? Why does Microsoft care what type of porn I search for?
|
|
If it's loaded with spyware then it'll be a commercially nonviable product. Businesses wouldn't even want to touch it.

getting spied on is the new normal. from your computer, your phone, your 'smart' tv, your new video game console, anything else in your house that can connect to the internet, out in public being watched by cameras everywhere you go, your car (which has the ability to be hacked and fucked with! fun stuff!)
think they wrote books back in the day about this sorta thing, hmm. |

Don't even have to wait, just bought a Toshiba laptop a couple weeks ago. Came with a note, says the computer will send info back to them and if you don't agree then don't open a thing and take it right back for a refund.

My OS is spying on me.
My browser is sending info about every click I make to Google. I have two security programs that snoop through my computer and harvest info daily. My ISP screens all of my email, and keeps a copy of every email I send or receive. A button to give the illusion of turning off the data collection is humorous. |

I reserved my W10 a month or so ago. Update started downloading last night and took until this morning to finish. Completed the update and tried to use W10 for about a half hour or so. First and final problem: W10 wouldn't recognize my 2nd monitor. Even finding "Control Panel" was a PIA. Finally found it - had to search for it - still wouldn't recognize my 2nd monitor. Fuck That. Searched on "rolling back W10" and finally found the procedure. Took about 15-20 minutes to implement. Now I'm back on W7 as I was before. 2nd monitor alive and working like always. I'll wait a couple more months, if then, to try W10. Just my .02. |

I'm spying on your Windows 7 computer. Oh hell. Ceiling Subnet is watching you masturbate. And critiquing your technique. To be fair, it's constructive criticism, The thing about all these invasions of privacy is that they are what makes the software useful. If it knows you like coffee then it can show you where the best coffee shops are because it knows which ones are good. Just think about all the things you can tell about a person just by looking at their bank and credit card purchase histories. Banks have had this data for years. Invading your privacy is nothing new. |
