My favorite scene is when trinity is riding the Ducati 996 for the longest time, that bodystyle superbike was my favorite. Now I own one

Yes, it's a classic and should be.

What if I told you that there will come a point in your life, where your perception of time changes.

16 year old movies, from you perspective will seem like they didn't come out that long ago, and you'll be amazed that they call them "classic".

The first matrix movie gave me a serious moment of pause.

As I was walking out of the theater, I realized that something like that could potentially be going on RFN and we'd have no idea.

Total mindfuck.

I thought the exact same thing, but I was also under the influence while watching the first movie.  I don't think I slept much that night.

The Matrix defined what action movies are today. Every action movie since has borrowed or built upon the way action is shown on screen.

Yep, first one is an all time classic. Totally holds up. I like scenes from the sequels, but didn't like them as films.

 If they had stopped at the first movie it would easily enjoy a cult classic following that surpasses Blade Runner.

I think it'd be funny if they crossed over Terminator with the Matrix.  The humans never won...

Heck nearly the whole Terminator franchise could be explained as an early version of the Matrix...  Skynet took over and created that virtual world for the humans to fight a futile battle endlessly in.

I've long had a similar thought regarding that.  The two universes actually could mesh pretty well even though the themes of the two franchises are quite different in most respects.

That plus the Savior motif.

Neo Anderson is a Christ figure.

Neo = New

Ander = Man

son = Son

aka the New Son of Man who dies and comes back to life to defeat evil and deliver his message of liberation and salvation for mankind

I read something, I think on this forum, about how Skynet from Terminator was winning so we nuked the fuck out of the planet to stop solar power.  The machines turned us into their "batteries"...The Matrix.  I know it doesn't really mesh with the power cells that the terminators use, but liked the idea.

The whole movie is a metaphor.

I have no doubts that our government views us like this Duracell battery here:

We...our taxes...power the government.

And with these so called Obamacare death panels, as soon as we are seen as a drain on the government, we would get ejected much like Neo was flushed out of the pod once he took the pill.

Yup, it will be viewed as a good "old" movie. With outdated themes and graphics.

I had that revelation last year when a kid came to help me at work and was telling us about how he watched this hilarious "old" movie the night before. It was Old School with Will Farrell. I said fuck man, that movie came out when I was in college and he replied with "Well it came out when I was like 6, so it's old."

This.

I am still suprised that a "wake up from slavery" movie was even made in its day.

Great Movie.
Part of what makes it timeless is the overt and covert Christian Gnosticism that was interlaced throughout the movie. It has alot of enduring archetypes and underlying truths that speak to everyone who watches it, at the least on a subconscious level.

A humbling experience.
