In the final scene when that animated cartoon wolf on top of the cliff sat down and howled I thought "aah fuck, I hope I at least get a BJ out of this date."  That was pure Kevin Costner cheese.

He was supposed to be a big advocate for the Lakota Sioux in making that movie and gave some speech at the Oscars what a noble people they are still then he turned around and shit all over them over by building a casino or some crap on their sacred ground and ignoring not only their requests not to but wouldn't even meet with the tribal elders.  Thanks for the stereotype reinforcement white eyes.

He built a casino in Deadwood alongside a bunch of other casinos. He was going to build a hotel between Deadwood and Spearfish but investors pulled out and it became a museum of sorts.

Good movie until the white guys show up in the middle of the movie.

The book explained how the troopers posted at the fort had just missed passing him on their way out while he was coming in.

Great soundtrack.

One of my all time favorite movies.  They didn't paint the natives as superiors, like most cliche movies.  They were just simpler, more natural people.  But they had all the nuances of any group of people, both good and bad.  Like when Kicking Bird's wife gets critical of him, LOL, always cracks me up.

Wind in His Hair is my favorite character in the film.  Super loyal guy.

It's a good movie, but Costner's monotone narration grates on my ears.

That would be the "Midnight Star" casino. I saw it a few years ago when I went to Sturgis. Also rode through the Black Hills National Park, where a majority of the DWW film was filmed.
There are signs out there telling you where it was.

It was pretty cool seeing it in person, with all the buffalo wandering around.

Wife and I went in with the change from the glove box. Something like $3.40. Went in on a whim, that was our only cash-had been using plastic. Third pull on the handle won 500 nickels. Considering it really wasn't that much money we thought about keeping the nickels in the change cup they give as a souvenir. Got tired of carrying them(500 nickels are heavy) so we cashed them in, I went to a gift shop and bought a T-shirt instead.

After watching it for the first time, my ex (then wife) and I started giving our pets nicknames like "Knocks things over" and "Barfs up hairballs."
