When the m107 was announced ~3 years ago I called. Name on wait list. Called again about.using an AAC suppressor. Voids warranty. Ok. Cool...I'll just buy the Barrett suppressor ...... Nope that voids the warranty as well. May have changed since then but that's a lot of fuckery going on IMHO.

The M82A1 (what the OP has) isn't designed to be suppressed. Some have canned theirs but it usually voids warranty and is advised against.
The can is designed for the M107 or the M99/M95 (if the 99/95 are equipped with the proper brake).
The Barrett can is not supported or designed for the M82A1
This is the reason why i'm looking at a M107A1

The M107A1 was basically designed to be used suppressed. I remember cans giving a lot of mechanical and reliability issues with these M82 rifles as they are reciprocating (without a brake it wont be able to pull the barrel forward).
Ronnie made some video explaining the reason why you shouldn't suppress an 82 and why you can with a M107A1, but I have no idea where that video is now on the internet. It was something to do with the added weight, wear, spring, and accelerator rod. A can also throws a lot of momentum back into the rifle because non Barrett suppressors do not have brakes. A lot of the claim has been reliability and weakness of parts (seems like the M107A1 uses a lot of titanium). Seems like a lot of complaints about accuracy for a non 107 suppressed.
The Military did extensive testing on 50 cal cans and the barrett m82's (keep in mind, the mil called the 82's as M107's, notice the no "A1" designation) and basically found that the reliability is gone with it and the rifles were prone to breaking and failing.
