I am the only one in my family who lives several hundred miles away from the rest of the family, it is challenging to say the least.

So, how far away are you from where you grew up?

About 875 miles. I've lived farther.

I've always been about going where I could make the best living. I never understood how people can relegate themselves to living at the poverty line just to stay near their parents and friends. I've never had much trouble making new friends.

Without the use of the interwebz, Southern CA (Newport Beach) to Upstate SC and my guess is 2500 miles and some change.  Entire familial Clan including chillrens in CA except one who is going to school in Taiwan (son).

No Basements in CA, so fuck! I had to leave my den of Cheetos and Mountain dew fort at a early age.

Have lived the past 25+ years 3000+ miles from my nearest relative / and where I grew up.

Its been a great 1/4 century without any 'family drama' ... I visit when I want and come and go on MY TERMS.

3129 miles.

Everyone else is on the west coast.  I lived in Seattle for the first 30 years of my life.  I miss the mountains, skiing, forests, and other PNW elements.

That being said, whenever I go back, it's strange because it is not the place I once knew.  It has changed a great deal over the years.

Currently about 834 miles

Next month I'll move to a different state, 634 miles from where I am now.  That will make it 1014 miles away from where I grew up.

I'm the only one that lives away from "home", so I'm something of an outcast from the family.

37 miles.

Grew up in SE Albuquerque, now in Placitas.

House was 2 blocks from KAFB, and 4 blocks from the VA hospital and the old Lovelace clinic.

Great place to grow up.

0 miles. I was able to purchase the house I grew up in last year. My parents sold the house in 1986 and I've always loved it. I still do. My "mancave" is in the basement. I could actually be serious when I say I'm surfing arfcom from my parents basement.

My house is about 6 miles from where I grew up and my parents still live.  My sister lives about 4 miles from me and maybe 5 miles from parent's house. We all live in the country outside a town of about 2000 people.  Lived in this area for 20 years and I'm 31 years old, love it!
