I saw the pictures below on a list that pushes gun control. I know that Bloomberg is investing another $13 million for an ad campaign to try and change how the NICS system works. Currently, an OK is an OK and a denial is a denial. However, a hold or delay is not an "incomplete check" as Shannon Watts and Bloomie would have you believe. Under Federal law, it is presumed that the buyer is eligible to purchase a firearm unless the NICS check finds that he or she is a prohibited person. A delay or hold simply means that the FBI needs more time to research the buyer to find a disqualifying factor. They have three days. If after three days they don't find anything, the sale or transfer can go through. The FFL is allowed (but not required) to complete the sale or transfer and release the firearm. They have a petition campaign targeting Cabela's to try and get them to agree to their demands.

It is obvious to me that the gun prohibitionists are trying their best to both confuse the public and media as well as to interrupt as many sales as possible.

I'd like to know if anyone has any info that Dick's and Academy Sports have really caved to the gun grabbers. I'd believe it of Dick's as their name says its all. However, Academy Sports has always been fairly stand up.

Most Dick's have long held that until the transaction is given a proceed status, they're not gonna do it.

They were fucking over gun owners YEARS before it was cool.

Our big sporting goods place, Scheels, does the same thing. Unfortunately, I am one of those that is almost always delayed on a purchase. I've never been denied, just very rarely instant approved. I won't buy firearms from them.

Academy is based in Texas and Dicks is based in New York, both highly liberal states in the worst 36 states for gun owners, so it's not surprising

Pretty sure Academy has been that way for years.
Academy will also not sell an AR to anyone under 21.

I saw a guy arguing with the manager last year at academy.
He said it had been four days and they had to transfer the gun.  The manager told him store policy was only if they recieved a proceed.
Maybe that was his decision and not every store.

Unless it has changed in the last few years the one in corpus will not sell "assault weapons" to anyone under 21.
They would also refuse to sell pistol gripped shotguns unless you were 21.

Yes and no.

I shop at a few local places rather than either of those. FWIW, the Dicks in North Canton had very little in the way of firearms last I was in the place.

With a Kames, Fin-Feather-Fur and Gander Mountain in the immediate vicinity it's not like there aren't options.

I have never bought a gun from Scheels, but a buddy of mine had his CWL and still had to go through the NICS check. They are a bit strange.

No Dicks's or Academy here, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Actually Dick's moved their headquarters to the Pittsburg area in 1994, back when Terry Bradshaw became the spokesman as part of the investor group that bought into the company, taking it over from the Stack family.

You have to be 21 to buy any given firearm in the United States.  There is an exemption for long guns, however a pistol grip firearm is marked as other on the 4473.

Last time I bought a gun in CO Springs, the fucking CBI check took 3 hours.

I went home and came back on the way to work and picked up my gun

Can't imagine buying one in another part of the state with the system being so shitty.

They were calling these pistol grip shotguns.
I should have worded it differently.     An actual pistol grip shotgun is no go but I thought these were okay at 18.

I work at Academy part time. Its 21 for handguns and pistol grip shotguns. 18 for long guns, period. I can's even show a handgun or pistol grip shotgun to anyone under 21. But if you're 18, you can buy any long gun. Academy won't sell a gun without a "Proceed"  or a CCW (at least in MS). IDK about historical data as I have only been there about 2 months.

I don't buy guns from Dick's because here in Jersey they are only allowed to sell shotguns. No pistols. I will occasionally buy ammo from them when they have sales.

I go to my LGS for guns and my NICS check usually takes 10 minutes.
