Was this covered before?  I'm not surprised that the government (including R's) want to increase taxes or make new taxes.

As soon as next week, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, will introduce the Remote Transaction Parity Act, which would allow states to require remote Internet retailers to collect sales taxes on online purchases.

I'm against it, but they've neither increased taxes or created new taxes. In most states I'm aware of, you are responsible for paying local sales taxes on internet purchase from out of state. This bill will require businesses to collect all local taxes from their buyers and distribute it to the appropriate parties.

I'm strongly against it, as I run a business with 100% sales coming from online and 99.5% out of state. Just wanted to clarify that.

Failure to pay tax on internet purchases is illegal.

More bullshit legislation to rob Americans of their money.  They pretend it will level the playing field for antiquated "mom and pop" shops, but it's really just another way to grow government revenue.

Felony?  Subject to a good beating if caught?

Maybe handcuff you, strap you in a chair, and gouge your eye sockets?

It will probably be very burdensome and will only increase taxes at a later date I imagine.
