Since he just said who owns and operates it, I'm guessing he can.

Great app.
Just this weekend it warned me about an object in the road. Slowed down and paid extra attention. Sure enough, just a bit ahead, a big chunk of angle iron in the road.

It's also saved me from hitting things (mainly shitty retread truck tires ).

Constantly warns me about retread pieces in the road on 85.

Why do you people assume treads are retreads?

Never been pulled over, huh?

When they make you sign the ticket, you are instructed to press hard while signing since you are signing several copies of the ticket at once.

I may or may not have been pulled over on one or more occasions.

Cops used to say "Press hard there's _______ copies" with the old tickets. The ticket he had me sign was a newer computer printed one.

Why even link to that shitty "article?"

I used Waze all the time on the commute home.  I like that it will update your route while in use to adjust for changing traffic.  Since I'm paranoid, I disable the tracking when not in use (or because it eats my battery).

This...

When we drove from Atlanta to the Grand Canyon in May/June, it was nice to know when I might have to deal with LEO in states that didn't honor my carry permit (i.e. NM - fuck you guys).

I don't but I live in an area with little traffic.

My brother swears by it (lives in NC, regularly travels to PA on I-95) and he recently introduced my mother to it (same AO) and she loves it.

For getting around traffic congestion, it seems like a good idea.

I plug my phone into the car charger while using it.

I mainly use it to see what my intended route looks like, cops, construction etc. I like it.

I don't use it in town but only when on the interstate.

On a trip to Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, it let me know of every cop that I passed and several objects on the highway.

It's a battery hog if not plugged in but a good app to have on the highway.

I usually plug it in while in use as well.  I just mean that it eats my battery even when not in use but with location services enabled for the app.

All the time, and I tell all the guys I work with about it too. It's a lifesaver from traffic. The GPS systems in our trucks are shit and don't have traffic integrated, so it can literally save hours/week in driving.

Of course, knowing where speed traps and red light cameras are helps a lot. The rest of the functionality is great too.

Last weekend I used it to avoid probably an extra hour in a 2 hour drive out of Chicago for the 4th.

Waze is an Israeli owned/operated company. They database, enrich through algorithms and sell your personal information. For example if you visit a mall X number of times a month your info is valuable to certain retailers. They also have the ability to develop, over time, you precise pattern of life.

Waze if you want to....I don't

Here's some of the things the track   http://www.zdziarski.com/blog/?p=4827

Your GPS location and driving routes. Of course, some of this is needed to deliver the services described, however it does not need to be stored indefinitely. Waze’s privacy policy states that this information will be used to “create a detailed location history of all the journeys you have made”. The question, of course, is “for whom, exactly?”.

Your home, work, and favorite destinations (as you assign within the application).

All of your chat messages with other Waze users

All queries you make to Waze

All of your calendar information

All of the phone numbers stored on your device’s phone book; in other words, selling out all of your friends to Google.

Your own phone number

Any personally identifiable information you add in your profile (such as your name, gender, photos). Some fields are specifically made mandatory in order to use Waze.

Information from your other social network accounts (explained later).

Information from all mobile devices you’ve ever linked to your account

Meta-data about you: how long you use Waze, information about your device, web pages that you visit within Waze, everything that you read in Waze, advertisements that you view or click on, your communications with other users and third parties, your IP address and domain, and the geolocation of the device you log in from.

Any personal information that comes out of emails you use to contact them; for example, if you sign your emails with a signature line containing your phone number and place of business, Waze gets to use that information.

Press the "Report" button.

That makes the mark for the location, take as much time as you need to finish the details.

Don't worry about it, it properly places things based on when you first press "report", not when you press "send"
