29% seems kind of low for Va. Although the liberal cancer is spreading throughout my great state.
Plus if I get a call asking me about guns, my answer is always no, well, since that boating accident and all. |
|
I am guessing most Vermonters gave a none of your business "No" answer. This map shows 28.8%, but most estimates range from 50% to as high as 70%.

Percent that they know about anyway. View Quote Exactly. I guarantee you that Arizona is running closer to 90%. I bet they don't count reservations, for one. For two, folks that won't admit to having a gun, do. I can think of a few that one might assume they wouldn't. Yeah... I'm betting that map is off. |

That figure is in line with what I see at the office on a per-household basis. On a per adult basis, it actually looks high. My office disproportionately voted Republican in comparison to the rest of the state, and is located in much more rural area compared to the rest of the state. |

I think I know two families that don't own guns, and I live in a liberal area.

"Oh look, a data collection form came in the mail"
"Do you own any guns, yes or no?" "No" |

What percentage of gun owners in the last 5 years have ...
- shot on their own land - shot at a NF range - shot at a public/private range |

WTF Nebraska?! View Quote We have a Handgun Purchase Permit program, the permit is good for 3 years and if you have one they don't do a NICS call when purchasing. And if you have a CHP, you don't have to register your firearm with the police if you live in Lincoln or Omaha. So between no NICS call and a way around handgun registration laws, there's no accurate to track firearm count here. |

Since everyone knows Alaska doesn't count,
I'm saying my state wins. |

Apparently Nebraska is just smarter than everyone else and said, nope, no guns here.

25 percent of DCers and 45 percent of Hawaiians?
I am gonna call bullshit. |

It looks like they polled about 80 people per state.
Abstract We assessed gun ownership rates in 2013 across the USA and the association between exposure to a social gun culture and gun ownership. We used data from a nationally representative sample of 4000 US adults, from 50 states and District of Columbia, aged >18 years to assess gun ownership and social gun culture performed in October 2013. State-level ?rearm policy information was obtained from the Brady Law Center and Injury Prevention and Control Center. Onethird of Americans reported owning a gun, ranging from 5.2% in Delaware to 61.7% in Alaska. Gun ownership was 2.25-times greater among those reporting social gun culture (PR=2.25, 95% CI 2.02 to 2.52) than those who did not. In conclusion, we found strong association between social gun culture and gun ownership. Gun cultures may need to be considered for public health strategies that aim to change gun ownership in the USA. |

It's too bad those of us in the upper peninsula of MI get lumped in with the downstate lightweights. I would venture that we would be in the 50% or greater range.

Rural its vs Urbanality.
In WI, & I'm sure other states as well, people in rural areas have a higher % of ownership than the city-dwellers. Even though they need them more than we do. But yeah, reportedly anyway. |

Those numbers are bullshit. Politician . Have been scared shitless to touch gun control issues during election years. Those kind of number wouldn't do that

Complete fucking nonsense. 14% in NEW HAMPSHIRE!? Ridiculous.

NFW does HI beat out TX in gun owners per capita, it must be the lack of beans in their chilli. OMFG, I didn't even see HI down there... That would surprise the shit outta me. Have been to Hawaii several times, never saw any evidence of "gun culture" at all. California does not surprise me. I see signs of gun ownership almost every day. (Stickers on cars, ads for gun stores/ranges on the radio etc). |

D.C. at 26%? This must've came from a questioner of Probation Officers
ETA: Did they include LEO and .gov Agencies? Makes D.C. seem more legit. |

If they keep telling us that almost no one owns guns, then it won't be that big of a deal when they take them away.

WTF Ohio?
How are we going to repel Detroit FSA without guns?!? |

surprised Alaska is as low as it is I would have guessed 85-90% there |

The one I heard of catered to Japanese tourists that wanted to shoot full auto guns. It was somewhere in Waikiki. The other was in or near Koko Head. I was told that was rifles only. These numbers seem way off in a lot of states . Hawaii at almost 50% ? Illinois at 25%? Nebraska seems too low Massachusetts seems too high How are these numbers generated? Is this a sampling? Is this actual counts of 4473's? Or is this another example of "fun with statistics" *edit* the poster above me answered my question....more fun with statistics View Quote Out of a population of 6,745,408, there are 355,272 active gun licenses in Massachusetts or 5.3% of the population. I'm actually quite surprised the 22% out of the 4000 polled in Mass opened their yaps about possessing firearms. |

Oklahoma surprises me, that it is that low.
Missouri I suspect is pulled down in AVG by KC and STL. I'd like to see that map by county. |
