I've heard horror stories about grad student life back in the day. Your regressions had to be typed on punch cards, and there was a several month wait. To read a journal article, you had to go to the library, find it in the bookstacks, and then read it. And you couldn't even take it home or right notes in the margins. Sounds awful.

We made black powder cannons in shop class.
I 'm too tired for this crap.... |
|
Yep, slide rules and we did learn how to use an abacus.
4 channels on the black and white tv. Morning and evening editions of the newspaper. Dad sending me to the store to buy him beer and cigs when I was 6 years old. No questions asked. |

I still remember when mass was in Latin
No a/c till in my teens B/W TV - 3 channels S&H green stamps and mom cutting out McCall's dress patterns We still went next door to borrow a cup of sugar or a couple of eggs Ice truck would come by my neighbors and fill their ice box up. We must've been rich. I don't remember ever not having a fridge, though Ice cream bicycle guy coming by in the summer Dingo boots and taps Oh yeah. PBR returnable bottles |

I remember being at the Dodge dealer when my father was ordering a new car.
Standard engine was 400 2-bbl. He asked the salesman "what are the other choices?" I clearly recall the answer: "440 or hemi" Unfortunately we got the 400. |

View Quote PUNCH CARDS? Those came much later. Paper tape ruled the day ! I still have some, and at one time I knew how to read it by eye. Rolling it up and cinching it tight made a nice squeaky sound. It was oiled and came in various colors. |
