Just because we're doing it wrong here, doesn't mean China is doing it right. ETA: China isn't cracking down on Islam because of ISIS and the threat of terror. They're cracking down on it because it's a religion they can't control. They're assaulting the inherent freedoms of worship, religion, conscience, speech, and assembly, it just gets lots of cheers from the flag waving portion of Americans because it happens to affect an undesirable religion. Islam is evil. CAIR, ISIS, etc... are evil. But so is restricting the freedom of a Chinese Islamic to eat kosher. View Quote Well, in the absence of perfection, restricting the freedoms of a known political / terrorist organization masking itself as a religion in order to expand its influence in a Communist regime is something I personally can live with. Now, to chase this down the rabbit hole, I think that banning or strictly controlling/limiting Islam is a good thing. This is because when one starts studying the history and nature of it, you begin to understand that it is not "just another religion", like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Christianity. After the 9/11 attacks I started reading about Islam. The first book I chose was Paul Fregosi's Jihad in the West. On eof the main reasons for that selection is that it was published before 9/11 and I wanted to avoid any bias that might have resulted from that event. Also, it is pretty thoroughly researched and footnoted. Another book that has good information but is a lighter read that I recommend for an introduction to the subject is The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades. Islam is essentially a constitution unto itself. Islam, as a system, covers areas of government, social structure, taxation, military policy, and so forth. As such, it is subversive to any non-Muslim country it exists in. Is Islam subversive in the United States?
