The question was from the guy who pays the mortgage and homeowner's insurance on that house. He deserves a straight answer, regardless of your desire to not get involved. View Quote Pretty much. She might have permission; She might not. But that's on her. If you tell what you see, and she has permission, then it's all good. if not...you still don't have to worry about it. "Your dad just texted me, asking what was going on over here."
"What did you tell him?" "Nothing, yet. But if you want to keep it that way . . . " --------------------- Seriously, I would have texted him back that she appears to be have a quiet little get together. Nothing to be concerned about, less than 20 kids, pretty sedate. I'll let you know and intervene, if it gets stupid. |

Personally I would want to know. Regardless if it ruins my child's day. If the house is mine, I don't want kids messing it up unsupervised. Also I do not want under aged children drinking at my home and possibly getting in an accident on the way home. I also do not like the idea of a guy anywhere near my daughter, I know it'll happen, but I'm just not ready....

What is the relationship with the neighbor? Do you him talk all the time, hang out , drink beer together etc? My old neighbor that moved away was one of my best buds. I can't count the times we sat on one of our porches and polished off a 12 pack or BBQd for the families or went hunting together. If he asked me something like that I would tell the truth. I would say we were that age once you remember. She has some friends over and they are popping some fireworks but nothing looks out of hand. I wouldn't worry but if things change I will check it out and let you know.
Now if you don't know him very well I probably would just be vague or not answer at all. Neighbor or not if I don't know them well I don't want to get involved in their business. Did you and the neighbor have a discussion about this before he left? If he talked to you before he left and asked you to keep an eye on things while he is gone and you agreed that is different than just some random text. |

One adult asks another adult what is going on at the house he is paying a mortgage, taxes, and insurance on who also can be held responsible legally and financially should someone get injured or killed.
If you have not done so you need to tell him..should not even be a question. ETA: Just saw the OP's reply...glad he is not my neighbor. |

I'm starting to wonder if some of you fuckers were never invited to a party as a teenager. Went to a ton of parties and saw the damage that even minor ones caused. I'd tell him he might want to contact his kid. Yup... I recall a couple of instances where the houses were pretty trashed and things got broken. One house in particular had a party held by someone no one really liked but who desparartely wanted to be part of the crowd I was rolling with...That guys house was literally destroyed. |

Wow, you guys are all over the place.
It's none of the OP's business, he should not stick his nose into it. Unless he sees something really dangerous going on, then it's none of his business. The OP should ignore the text. Unless the neighbor is a real good buddy of the OP, he was out of line asking the OP to play cop for him. If he sees something really fucked up going on, then he should step in and help out. Kids are stupid and they need somebody to think for them sometimes. |

I always wonder how many people here run and hide and get quiet when the doorbell rings, rather than having basic social interaction with their neighbors.
His neighbor asked a simple question, which should have gotten a simple answer. In this case it would have been as simple as saying that there were quite a few cars there and he could hear music. This isn't asking OP to play cop or get involved in any way other than answering a simple question. If he wasn't comfortable answering the question, he could have said so. |

I'm waiting for pics since she's 18. Please bang her OP. |

Call em'.
I got the call from my Mom who lived in the house behind the one across the street from us years ago. We were up in the Smokies for a week at the Lower Bear Paw place with the youngest. Mom said that a Cop called and got her out of bed at 11:30 And asked her to come over to be present and help them shut down the party at our house. She estimated around 50 cars and a hundred teens around my sons age of 16-17. Cops told Son to produce an adult family member immediately or they were all going to jail. Son said he was just having a little Barbeque with with friends and didn't understand the problem. I told him I would kill him when we returned in 4 days. Got home and he was at work. House trashed, yard trashed, My new $850 all stainless grill trashed and liquor cabinet cleaned out. I was pissed as wife cleaned up everything in a few hours. I met him at the door and started in on him about the cost of replacing the booze and cleaning the grill and......................He cut me off and said but dad we had half the HB Plant High School cheerleading squad so drunk they were running around topless. Oh well, Boys will be Boys. |
