And the funniest thing of all is that when eventually the natural cyclical nature of economies DOES result in another recession, then they'll claim that they totally predicted it - and will furiously backpedal, and say that the recession is just a pre-cursor to the "total collapse" that's right around the corner, and is totally going to happen any day now. ... definitely in six months. It's so cute. If they understood markets they way they think they do, and claim to, they'd all be billionaires. I think most of them are wishing for it, too. Well obviously. That way, their decisions to NOT invest in the markets, and to cash out their 401k, will be validated - and they imagine that their small pile of silver and gold will be able to buy them a harem and a palace in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Can't believe I missed this thread. The market is already largely adjusted for any influence Greece has on it. Greece isn't unexpected and thus factored in...aka there won't be a panic about it.

Sometimes reactions are out of proportion to the event which provokes the reaction. In other words, panic. In fact, some economic downturns have been caused by, and are named after, a panic. What might happen if Greece actually defaults on bond payments to private investors (due by the 10th IIRC) is anyone's guess. |

DAY 3 of the Market Collapse 2.0
Spirits are still high, and I am hoping I will survive this ordeal. My new sofa was delivered yesterday, and it is not as comfortable as I remember it being when I sat on it in the showroom. Clearly, the Greek debt crisis is to blame. Food supplies were running low yesterday. I had to face the arduous challenge of driving to the store and buying some more. Whole Foods didn't have my favorite local wheat beer. I almost gave up hope and resigned myself to the end, but then I remembered that my regular store carries that brand, and it was cheaper. The grass is getting longer on my lawn. The EU is somehow to blame, I am sure. If this disturbing trend continues, I will have to call someone to come and cut it. This may be my last message, but if I survive, updates will follow. I hope someone out there can hear this. Hang on. One day, we might be able to live normal lives again!! |
