Long range gear, training, and practice is, however, more expensive than whatever I paid for my "Slidefire" brand stock when it was on sale. But of course, rock and roll is (as you know) mucho fun time.
I'll build you an upside down bump stock if you like. Think BumpBREN. No, thank you. I like sights that make ballistic sense. 
We're probably going to need the Model 1 Sales enhanced firing pins on these fancy triggers for the 7.62x39mm primers. I had issues w/ the one you gave me on some Academy brand ammo, I think. Couple of hits per primer made it go off. I have one. Your upper should have something similar, since I've read somewhere here of a comparison of Model 1's 7.62x39 firing pin and the one PSA uses being indistinguishable. If you feel like taking bolts apart sometime, you're welcome to compare them. The general suggestion for 7.62x39 is first to extend the firing pin, then to use a stronger hammer spring. Based on my testing though, I think a light, fast hammer should be the second step, given the lesser influence on weight of trigger pull. To wit, I tested 5 triggers on the Vympel 7.62:
Therefore, while the above looks a bit damning with respect to the ACT, make no mistake: for normal purposes (.223/5.56 & normal primers) the ACT makes a dandy upgrade over a stock trigger, and considering the importance of a trigger vs. other parts in the AR15, I reckon it not a bad upgrade for those who aren't interested in exotica. |

My cousin (and backbencher's) called me today to talk about Chilean Mausers, for which we both suffer a weakness. We ended up talking for hours about mechanical watches, for which we both also turn out to suffer a weakness. Among many eerie crossovers in taste, he owns one of the vintage watches I most like (JLC Memovox), and I own one of the modern watches he most likes (Nomos Club).

Since ARP didn't have 6.8 bolts in stock I went ahead and ordered my scope.
 I hope 2.5x is enough magnification or it's going to get kicked to the pistol and I'll have to by another scope.

I should probably mention that Academy's ARs & AKs have shaken the chador off & are now on display. They've got a free-floated Mossberg as well w/ a silly looking fixed front sight on the rail - about as cheesy as the one I gave sample for his .458".

Have you ever seen a gunshot wound packed? It was a new experience for me and I have to say it looks like it really sucks to have all that gauze shoved into you're thigh. it was kinda cool to see the 8 feet of old packing pulled out.

Academy has discontinued Magpul's original rifle handguards and are selling them for cheap - like $8 or so. Picked up a set to put on the old HB dissapator I'm putting together for Clint on a Trinity Ordnance Sabre Defense lower.

Thanks for the heads up on the deals today, Backbencher. It's going to be a struggle not to hit up all the academies in my area for $15 air rifles.
Not that I need a bunch of air rifles but I mean for 15 bucks why not have 4 or 5.

Some of the problems they broadcast are real head-scratchers, though. They retired in 2012, and the other brother died of Alzheimer's in 2014.
Anybody got a rifle handguard retainer? I'm rebuilding my dissy back into a dissy, and need to replace the carbine handguard retainer behind the gas block w/ a rifle one behind the front sight. |
