They are actually pretty good. Great writing, the actors? Well, they are getting by. I guess no better or worse than the TOS actors early on.
Doohan has his dad down pat. I have enjoyed the couple I have watched. They are done within the spirit of TOS and should go on. Fun stuff for sure. |

Wow best reviews I've seen so far. We get a lot of reviews on the web, even Cnet. Tell the board that the next episode (5) is gonna blow them away. It's a period piece - that's all I can give away for now. View Quote |

As a guy who watched Star Trek's premiere episode back in 1966, I think these folks have really nailed the look of the original series. The actor playing Spock is a little small (physically) and the McCoy actor is only so-so. Doohan nails his dad, accent and pitch is dead on. I like the shows done so far.
Thanks OP for the heads up. I had not heard of these guys before. |

A dream come true. Actually my dreams suck. These people are better. Writing is superb. It isn't actually writing at all. It's storytelling. Just like the original series. We are pulled into the screen and into another world which is not like ours at all. Acting. A little rough at first, but it doesn't matter. These people aren't actors. They are our friends. We haven't seen them in a long time and they have come back to us. And they develop with each episode. The set is perfect. We don't need graphics and fancy sets when we have tactile switches that click, perfect sound effects, dramatic music that is over the top, and multicolored stage lights to make up for mdf and drywall and plywood. I can't stop watching. This isn't just the future, it's history and it's on right now. Thank you. And bravo. |

The guy playing Kirk provided the voice for Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Man, and I though Star Wars had a huge fan base. The amount of support for StarTrek is insane.

Watching the first episode now, looks awesome. I hope they keep them coming.

The homage to Paladin from Have Gun Will Travel in the very opening scene had me sold from the get-go.

I just finished binge-watching all four episodes. There were several times that I forgot I wasn't watching the original show. The sets and cinematography style are spot-on. Just watched episodes 2-4.
Excellent. I like where this is going! |
|
Damn, it's really good.
My hat is off to them. The Red Head is hot. I haven't seen the blonde yet, but I've only watched the first two episodes. The Orion chick was definitely nice. |

Just got done with "Fairest of Them All".
Strangely enough, when the lighting and angles are just right, Vic Mignogna looks a LOT like Shatner's Kirk. At the same time, something about his voice and mannerisms remind me of Chris Pine's Kirk. It's interesting. Edit: Same thing with Chris Doohan... some moments had me wondering where the old footage of James Doohan came from. |

I had a good time watching these episodes, as well as the other videos.
I was 9 when Star Trek appeared on 'color' TV. Glad my folks had a nice console with the AM/FM stereo and record player! I see this effort as genuinely respectful. The differences are to be expected. Shatner's Kirk was a bit more 'angry' and 'self-righteous', perhaps a bit more arrogant. Spock's replacement here might have it a little easier as the character requires more of a presence and attitude than the 'emotional' response, yet it's done extremely well. The new Sulu, in one of the vignettes, says the trademark "Oh, my!" but lacks the creepy, deep-voiced exclamation of the 'original'. Chris Doohan, wow...!...he's his Dad's Son, for sure, but l think he has a 'Pierce Brosnan' look to him. I see a bit of James Bond there! Uhura and the Doctor have some great tie-ins with the original actor's ways and words. And Chekov...always a classic, almost doesn't matter who plays him, they get one of the best parts of all~! The new counselor and blonde-kick-ass-babe... I'm enthused and thoroughly enjoyed about 4 hours of viewing the site. I think I'll watch the 1st episode again. |
|
View Quote Beautiful and a great addition to the show. Sort of a tie-in to TNG. |

Every time I hear Uhura speak I hear the chick from the Police Academy movies in my head.

I've enjoyed watching these far more than the new Star Trek reboot movies.
Amazing. |

Space, the final conquest
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise It's continuing mission, to discover and subjugate strange new worlds To advance our dominion and vanquish all who stand against us To conquer the galaxy for the glory of the Empire! I always wondered what happened after evil Kirk returned to his universe Sulu: But Captain, there could be casualties...on both sides Evil Kirk: Then take Checkhov and put him in front! |

I was wondering where Grant Imahara went when he left Mythbusters.
Adam Savage must be dying of jealosy! |

I think Vic Mignogna looks like Kirk Douglas.
Therefore, I refer to him as Captain Kirk Douglas. |
