If nothing else, this serves as a really good test of who reads through the thread before responding and who doesn't.

There are some reasons this fundraiser should not be approved.
Under Florida law, life insurance policies have to pay the death benefit for suicide as long as the policyholder has paid the premiums for two years or more. The deceased OP mentioned that there is a good amount of money in the policy. He also mentioned its whole life. Those policies are heavy on front-end commissions and take many years to build up “a good amount of money.” We can assume it is more than two years old. The deceased also mentioned the beneficiary of the policy is his widow or ex-wife depending on their divorce. Either way, as long as he didn’t change the beneficiary to a charity or endowment or anything else, she will get the money; and no, it does not take a long time for the check to arrive. We can assume the policy will be paid to her. Additionally, funeral homes routinely deal with payment delays related to life insurance policies. May the OP RIP. The good, kind, and generous people of ARFCOM have a reasonable expectation to “trust but verify.” After all, this is why life insurance exists. |
