I keep meaning to read the book.
I can't help wondering how badly Hollywood fucked it up. |

I loved the book, did not know they were making movie. Will see this.

Finished reading the book this morning.
Note: I hear there are PDF copies of it floating around online (since it was originally released on the author's website chapter by chapter before "real" publishing). |

Found it, thank you. Off to read. Shit! The one I found only goes to page 17, and I can't find the whole book in PDF. |

I listened to the Audible version while traveling for work.
One of my favorites!!! |

Agreed. There's no way they can fit that much detail into a single movie. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Shoulda been a mini series Agreed. There's no way they can fit that much detail into a single movie. Agreed, but Ridley Scott is a good choice if you want to do a movie. Hopefully it will be Interstellar in length. Awesome book... couldn't stop finished it in two days. |

My butt will be in the theater whenever it comes out. Love me some American exceptionalism in space, even with Libtard Damon in the lead.
The book rocked. Trailer kicks ass. Lets hope the movie does so as well.
The book was a good time.
Wonder how technical they are going to get in the movie, there is no way they are going spend 5 minutes of screen time talking about the chemistry of turning rocket fuel into water. |
Book was very good. While I'm looking forward to the movie I'm a bit concerned they'll wreck the movie and deviate from the book like happened with Word War Z. The book focused almost entirely on Watley. With a few people from earth side and his crew mates as supporting characters. From the trailer, and the stars cast beyond Damon I get the feeling they will change the underlying story line to give the other actors/actresses more screen time than the book storyline would have allowed.
I really hope they don't throw derp in there like man made global warming or the other typical Hollywood leftist crap that has been seen in big budget movies. |

"I'm going to have to science the shit out of this"
Uhhh, no thanks. Sounds pretty lame. |

Got the point across without being over the top technical or slowing down the narrative. We will see what happens in the movie. I have HIGH hopes. :-) |

Eh... help me out here. Why would NASA not rescue the astronaut?
I'm only like 100 pages into the book. Look forward to the movie.
It looks good, but with Matt Damon in it, I am certain that the script is chocked full of left wing bullshit about Global Warming, Illegal Immigration, Gun Control, LGBTBD or some other leftist bullshit.

Started reading the book Saturday, should have it finished today.
My only comment at this time is: Matt Damon really? Was No one else available? |
Loved the book. Would have preferred Robert Downey Jr or Bradley Cooper in the lead. The protagonist has a bit of a smartass edge to him.

View Quote not to spoilery but just being safe Click To View Spoiler It would take too long to get him, it takes years to put the missions together and it would also be a VERY high risk mission for the crew they would send. Looking at one dead astronaut vs six.

Previously, Matt Damon played a space explorer stranded to die on a frozen planet, awaiting possible rescue.
Currently, Matt Damon plays a space explorer stranded to die on a not-so-frozen planet, awaiting possible rescue. |

Last time Matt Damon was alone in space it didn't work out so well for everyone else.
So I watched it with the sound off.
As far as I can tell he goes up there. Gets stranded. Is successful....and they send a team to kill him? lol. He then kills all of them and goes home? That's what it looks like with the sounds off LOL |
I finished the book literally just last night. Based on my fresh knowledge of the book, if the movie itself is anything like the trailer, we're in for something fucking awesome.
I find Jessica Chastain extremely attractive. Just sayin'.
Movie doesn't look terrible. |
I haven't read, or even heard of, the book. So, it may be an excellent read; I don't know. All I have right now is the trailer posted by the OP and based on that, I have zero interest in seeing this movie. For you guys thinking this movie will be about American exceptionalism, listen to the voice over at the start of that trailer again. It seems to be going out of its way to make an equivalence between every culture on Earth.
Second, look at that cast. One hard-core libbie after another, all down the line. And Matt Damon doesn't have the best track record when it comes to sci-fi movies lately. There's no way this movie is not going to be some vehicle for the Left's pet narratives. The huge amount of derp in this trailer is just the icing on the "do not watch" cake. I might try to watch it when it hits home video, but certainly not before. |

So....basically.... Interstellar 2: How The Asshole Got Stranded
Right? |
