No hook. Some rotation but not real organized and not a good couplet. No real hail core. Just a bad storm as far as I can see on radar.

Takes a shit ton of water/ice to turn the sky green. With the winds kicked up like that, I'd guess either a collapsing cell or a FFD. Without seeing VIL/ET or velocity products though, can't be quite sure. Either way stay safe!

Do you have a shelter place in mind for when it gets really bad? Thinking about that after it gets really bad is not the right way to do it and the run away plan works even worse when it is too late.

corrected my post, said x, meant analyst :(
i just upgraded to radarscope paid a few months ago, i sometimes get caught on the road when things go down. aside from the scanner, 2 ham radios and weather radio in my car, it's nice to have a visual of what's going on so if i have guys out in the field i can let them know something's inbound before they get hit. |

Is GR2 a waste of money until I understand the basics? I'd start with something like RadarScope on your iphone or android. Learn the rotation patterns and what to look for - hail cores, echo tops, outflow boundaries and gust fronts, etc ... once you've a good handle on that maybe consider going to GR2, and the volumetric/3D imaging. You can learn a TON from good hi-res level 3 data. |

Is GR2 a waste of money until I understand the basics? Yeah, you can download it and try it out for 21 days, but it is a waste of money unless you understand everything it can do. GrLevel3 is $75 or so and is a great program. For phones and Tablets RADARScope is hard to beat. It is $10, and for another $10 a year you can get level2 products and live lightning. |

It was out of the way and nobody would see it from the outside unless they were really tall, sans 2 antennas on the roof. Those antennas were super handy when looking for where i parked in a sea of cars at costco too :) i'm still looking for a scanner manufacturer with a decent remote-head option, like the yaesu, or i might just re-heat and reform the old mount for use in my charger, over the tranny hump in the back seat foot-well. |
