Anybody else do this.

I wanted OEM rims, I like them.  But they were aluminum silver and I wanted black.

Cheaper than new rims and still the ones I want.

Has anyone else done this?

Also, will post pics.  Picking up the car in about half hour.

I had my stock gold BBS wheels powercoated dark gray then I got bored had them blasted again and painted them myself with satin black rustoleum. If I get a chip I just spay some paint on a paper plate and dab it on with a qtip.

Forgive the dirtyness. Did them about 10k miles ago and they still look great. Had them media blasted, took them home and cleaned them with some pre paint metal cleaner(smelled like paint thinner to be honest), primer then used a full can on each wheel doing about 87 ultra light coats. Not a single blemish or run, perfect finish.

I want to do this too, but was going to do it myself. Thinking maybe cerekote, unless someone can offer a better solution.

Plasti-dip FTW!! Will even stand up mostly to a tire change but not permanent..probably 2 cans will do it

I was getting some work done on my 'burban and there was Mercedes at the shop.  It was in getting detailed and touched up so it could be "certified" for resale.  The shop said a guy refinishes them for about $120 a wheel.  As compared to $600 per rim for new; it's not a bad way to go.  They looked great and I couldn't tell they were refinished.

Easy way to save a few hundred bucks.

Pretty common.  Rattle-can, plasti-dip or powdercoat, etc.  Lots of options.

Plastic dip seems like a great option if you're unsure you want black wheels.

I plasti dipped mine because I haven't read good things about painting.  really depends on how cheap it was and what the process was

Powder coated the Jeep's wheels flat black and used a dark grey (anthracite) plastidip on my Viper rims. I'll probably replace the rims on the car some day, but for now its a cheap alternative to polished aluminum.

I powdercoated the wheels white on my Subaru.  I like doing things to cars that other don't.

Very tough finish.

Only if you like the wheels that were oem. I have an 05 tahoe don't really like the OE wheels.
Other then that I agree.

I painted the wheels on my white camaro black the day after I took delivery.  Used proper prep, quality paint and they look factory good. In the last two weeks I've gotten richer, taller, sexier and had endless sex with supermodels.

Not criticizing your choice, but my alternative, on steel wheels will cost me some time, and maybe $30.

Comparing apples to oranges, but they are all wheels, after all.
