This car will be 10 years old in a few years.
People think its brand new all the time, with 23k miles its half the price it was brand new.

I think thats one of the things you buy into when you get a german car, the styling is a few years ahead of all the other manafactures so they age very well.

Cars with clean, mature, and refined lines tend to stand up to the test of time.  Very trendy designs date themselves quickly.  That is why I choose European makes more often than not.  My test is, what will I think of that car in a year or two?  There are some models that you think are cool but realize that after a year or two, you're simply going to despise it.  The Challenger and Camaro are good examples.  I can't stand the sight of those cars now. Plenty of others I can't think of off the top of my head.
Bingo...

Other than a cassette tape deck. The entire car looks like it could've been made yesterday.

Sorry, it does look a little dated.
But more like the still hot 40+ year old housewife then the now 200lb model still wearing 80s clothes.

They age well (we have a 93 LS400). I work in some very exclusive gated communities and still see older LSes cruising around there. Great cars.

Old crappy pic of the better half's car. She picked out the wheels herself.

My 2000 Crown Vic looks just as unstylish today as it did the day it was purchased. Hell, it's just as unstylish as a 1990 model or a 2008 model.

Interesting observation, OP.

I agree.

I still think trucks looked the best in the 70s and 80s.

Kinda OT for the thread topic though

My 05 Ram doesn't look too far off from the newest truck. Unless you look at the grill and headlights, from the outside, they look the same.

My Accord is 5 years old, and when it's clean it still looks new. My Cherokee is a 98, but from the side could be mistaken for something built in the 80s.

70s fullsize Chevy FTW.  The Fords weren't half-bad, either, although their twin-traction beam front axle were and will forever remain a plague upon real trucks.

They better!  Since it take 6 or 7 year loans to by them these days.

Maybe because everything's a crossover now or otherwise has similiar body style.

In the 80's, 70's cars looked really dated.

Likewise 80's cars in the 90's.

Past 10 or 15 years, if a car is well maintained and clean, most look like they're 3 or 4 years old instead of 10 or 12.

I think it's the opposite.  The more tech you add into a car the faster it's going to date.

You did have that HUMP right now, and i think that is what  you are referring to, where the real old tech met up with the modern age tech... so for the past 10 years the cars tech have been leaps and bounds better than those of 30 years ago.... but once everything is teched out, you will see how things age quickly like cellphones and computers does.

They don't always age well.

My family car is an '03 BMW 530i (E39 body), and it looks more timeless than my parents' '08 535i (E60).

My daily driver is a 1986 BMW 635csi, still looks great to me, hate the lack of styling (designed by computers and wind tunnel) of most new cars.

For a big, heavy car she hustled through the twisties pretty good. I wanted to improve on that a bit (coilovers, sway bar bushings etc), but the girlfriend nixed the idea over ride quality concerns.
As seldom as she drives the thing, the poor KDWs started dryrotting before they were totally worn out. They have since been replaced with a less aggressive, cheaper tire.
