Surprising results at the end of the video but all of the participants agreed, the Walther PPS reigns supreme in the 9mm single stack class. |

They included the bad Sig P290, but not the good P938 or great P239?
Fail. |
|
I'm surprised Walters are not more popular. They need better marketing.
|
|
Sounds like they shot what they were sent by the manufacturers.

I love mine. I've shot all of the others except the new Glock, and think I made the right decision.

Walther PPS works out of the box. My only complaint is that it's so thin, the grip doesn't feel as good as the P99 double stack.

I predict much butthurt about the taurus being in the top 3. BTW I love my 709 slim.

No mention of the Shield's FTE at 3:00.
Reviews are tough because no matter how you slice 'em they are to a large degree subjective. The only factual result is the 1000 round challenge. |
|
Actually, I did like they mentioned the Taurus Slim.
I had one, ran like a champ, shot very well. Also, very reliable. My friend that bought it from me won't sell it back. |

Guns and Ammo....
Did they dig up an article from 1987 to fill most of the article again, or did they actually try to write something original. I gave up on gun rags, when I noticed that I could go back several years and find the exact same article already published in previous editions. That and it seemed like whatever gun they were praising tended to be whomever was their biggest advertiser. It's like trusting a car salesman to give you an honest assessment about different brands of cars; and this comes from a former car salesman. |

I used to have a 9mm PPS that I put 600-700 flawless rounds through, it had almost match accuracy. A little heavy, but a great pistol. I did not care for the butt mag release, gave it to my niece when she graduated from vet school-- she loves it. I get by carrying a 9c, about the same weight and more rounds.
|
|
Why is it so important to NOT lube or clean a gun for testing? Every gun I purchased is cleaned and lubed before putting it into full time service.
And you know what else grinds my gears? The YouTube gun reviewers that "test" accuracy. Who is to say they are any good at shooting or holding a firearm steady? Unless the firearm is clamped in a vice their accuracy test doesn't mean anything. |

I've owned a PPS 9mm, a Shield 9 and shot the XDS9 and very recently the G43. I like the Shield the best of those four.
When I shot the PPS I had serious muzzle flip issues with hotter loads. Combined with the ergos it was more difficult for me to keep the pistol on target. IMHO the Shield was easier to shoot. I also enjoyed shooting the G43 and thought it was a good piece. If I ever get the itch for a slim 9mm again I'll probably get one to tool around with. |

After seeing how dismally the walther PK380 performed ( 4 of my friends all bought one, and all sold them after a multitude of problems) I was surprised to see how well the PPS performed. I choose the Shield 9 mainly because of the thumb safety, I am a 1911 guy so its already habit to thumb the safety down as I am drawing. So far it has gone through 3000 mixed rounds (including baby fart reloads) without a hiccup, Planning on putting the apex kit on it as the trigger could be a touch better.

Thread/Article title disappointment.
I was hoping for an "Old-School Premium" 9mm Single-Stack Shootout. H&K P7M8 H&K P9S SIG P210 S&W 952 Walther P5 |
