Its sitting in a bowl of rice, hoping it works in the AM. It's already survived a dunk in a toilet, but I don't have high hopes this time around. Any advice?

I'm assuming it was on and not in a Lifeproof case?

Washing machines are hard on 'em, but fortunately mine was insured.

Yeah, don't put your phone in the washing machine.

My 4 fell into the pool. After putting it in rice, I opened it up and hit the inside with a hair dryer and sprayed some electrical cleaner.  It was, for the most part, ok. You should be able to open up the 5 if you have a really tiny screw driver but since it was in the water a lot longer than mine you may just be SOL.

After its been in the rice for a few hours, put it in the microwave for 30 aeconds.  Evaporates the water the rice didn't get.

Stick a fork in it. This is a great excuse to get an iPhone 6.

Mine iphone 5 was fine after a wash.  Threw it in some rice for 2 days and it was good as new.

Mine went through a full cycle and was still on when I found it. The screen looked pretty bad for about a week while the water dried out and the home button was wonky for a few days. After that week the only evidence of the wash was all the dried soap inside of the camera lens.

No it's not. I did the same thing to my 4S, and after sitting in a sealed bag of rice for over a week, it started working again, and I'm still using it to this day.

Six Plus.

Too big to fit in a pocket, therefore won't have that problem anymore.

I once fixed a phone that had been left outside for months.  I opened it up as much as possible then set it by the exhaust fan of a desktop computer.  Anything that has a heatsink/fan will do the same...once de-fogged a watch by setting it beside the exhaust fan of my DVR.

If you can open it up enough to get air circulating inside, you might be able to get it to work.

I saved a old android that went for a wash. Threw it in rice and left it in a sunny window for a few days.

Plugged it in, charged it and had I for 3 more years.

Sons iPod went through a full wash and dryer cycle .  Put it in rice for a week took it out and it worked for almost a year before it finally died.   Try the rice trick, it can't hurt.

There are easier ways to clean your phone of porn than washing it.
