Nice gun, nice paint OP.

(For future reference, the rubber easily comes off the B5 - It'll save you 2 minutes and $.17 in masking tape. )

Until those fragile brittle tabs snap off! Ask me how I know lol

How do you know?

So you're saying the 2 minutes and $.17 in masking tape is a better investment than a new stock? This sounds logical.

OP, disregard my previous post.

Who gives a flip.  Gun stores wont give you an asking price any way.  It is not some classic/collectable arm.  AR-15's are becoming a dime a dozen these days.

Rifles need contrasting colors.  Although the snakeskin and hex designs look damn cool, they do not effectively break up the outline of a rifle.

I used Testors Model Master paint FS enamel for two reasons;  the pigment is milled fine and doesn't build up or run as bad as others, and my nephews painted a wheelbarrow with some I had left over from a model project years ago, and it has been in the elements for 8 or 9 years and has held up very well.

I like to put down a layer of the laundry bag/mesh 'snakeskin' then go over it with darker colors. It seems to work fairly well out here.

Just checking-in....Yep, same butt-hurt two pages later.

That said I get it now given the number of devalued ARs in this thread, I simply had no idea ruining the value of ARs was so popular here these days.

But hey, I guess when you are a ARFCOM tycoon, dating super models, and lighting your fat Cuban seegars with $50.00 bills you don't even consider mundane things like lost value.

Carry-on.

BTW.....Wolf at the door, as in:

"I don't make a lot of money, just enough to keep the wolf from the door".

"We have a small amount of money saved, hardly enough to keep the wolf from the door".

Of all the things devaluing ar's, the large amount of parts and complete rifles is the biggest contributor

Also, in case you hadn't noticed, the people spray painting  their guns aren't likely to sell them, and the chances they will ever be so poor that they have to sell a rifle? Laughable.

I guess if you are stupid enough to think firearms as investments, then yeah, you should be worried about the wolf at the door.

WOW!!! You mean to tell me folks lose money on unpainted guns in the normal course of affairs? Do tell. I must have been doing it wrong right all these years.

Meh, I've never been accused of going along with a herd mentality when it comes to certain things.

Look on the bright side my man, all the butt-hurt has caused folks to show-off their rattle-canned bang sticks. That's got to be a good thing right?

It may give other folks rattle can ideas or prevent them from doing it at all so it's all good.

False. painting a gun does NOT "devalue" the gun. It just narrows the group of potential buyers.

Nah, I simply removed the painted $10.00 flea market stock, put the matching numbered wood stock set back on and sold it for $385.00.

Yeah but look at all the pages this thread has gone. It might have been just a long one or maybe two page thread at best. Hey I even sorta got (dis) honorable mention in the thread title. OP even "get's it".

Funny how it kinda worked out to a "trolling without even trying" type of thing. I could not have generated more butt-hurt had I tried. Yep, rattle-canning is serious business alright.
