I'm in. I should be able to have a submission within the next week or so. I'm going to use my 18" magnified AR for sure, but I see what you're after for variety and I'm right there with you. I should be able to haul out a WWII piece to see what it (and I) can do.

Few things, NOT impressive with AE XM 193…
My A4 was zeroed with 64gr Powerpoints… I know I can tighten this groups up, I haven't shot my rifles nor dry fired them since Feb/March I think… 2 minutes is a TON of time, might as well not even have a time limit or cut it to 90 seconds to push it. Gonna re visit this after a while of some dry fire practice. I've been mostly busy doing my New Challenge |

Excellent job BDU. Thanks very much for posting all the results of the various rifles and ammo. Good shooting and great data for mulling over, too!
It is interesting to me how a number of us do as well or better with carbines as rifles. |

Is nobody with an FAL or Garand or AK or HK91 gonna give this a try?

One of the things I was hoping to demonstrate with this challenge is that many of the claims that are made about accuracy using this or that ammo sort of fall apart when a rifle is shot from a field position. Ditto the mechanical and bench accuracy of a rifle. I used my ArmaLite M15A4 National Match to shoot sub-MOA in the MOA All Day Challenge {shooting from resting on my rucksack} but my Smith will only do something over 2 inches for the same demand. Yet I shot a slightly better group with my Smith than my ArmaLite, from sitting. The ArmaLite has a longer and heavier tube and frankly, I just can't hold it as steady as my carbine. |

One day I'll spend some money on "good" ammo and see what I can do. I figure I am often more limited by my shitty ammo then own abilities, or maybe I just want to believe that

So I tried it with my AK and some Silver Bear. Only had 2 boxes, it was actually the last of my 7.62....
Didn't even bother taking pics of the targets not measuring them. No target had 15 hits on them they were so spread out. Nothing even grouping. You can call it 9-11" groups with my AK... |

Average MOA was 5.13 Will do this again with 36gr CPHP Minimag. My 10/22 loves those. This was the first time I ever shot the Aguila. Shooting at 100 yards was new with a .22, I have this zeroed at 25 yards. I was having to hold about 5" over to hit paper. Not to bad for shooting at an obscured target. And yeah I know they aren't the 'Official' targets but I ran out shooting the AK just before this |

I don't consider a sling a crutch, its an essential part of rifle marksmanship.
I've heard that the AR is essentially a 4Moa weapon. looking at this data it seems that is correct. No problems with that anyway. maybe I'll try my garand and my AK I won a Foreign rifles of the world 100 yard competition with it back in the day. I should be able to get it on the paper |
