75 days until the start of the season....(OSU) In the interest of killing time, what was your favorite game from last year that 1) Didn't involve "your" team. 2) Didn't involve Va Tech? I watched a bunch of games but the first one that comes to mind is Michigan State v. Baylor Michigan State was getting rolled, even 300+lb linemen were taking passes to the house, just when it looked like MSU had a chance in hell, Baylor "sealed" it with one of the nastiest looking interceptions I've ever seen a top team/highly touted QB throw. Shit just got realer after that. I hope none of you missed it. I almost turned the game off at the beginning of the 4th quarter. View Quote I'm going with the Mich St / Baylor bowl game also. History repeats itself this year. 1969 all over again. To my knowledge, OSU has never gone from #1 to #1....if we managed to beat michigan we'd lay a steaming brown egg against the likes of MSU (when they weren't as respectable), Purdue, or Illinois. On paper the 2015 team should be much, much better than last years team. QB Miller - former heisman candidate (and my hope to be the best/start) Barrett - all-time OSU single season touchdown leader Jones - undefeated RB Ezekiel Elijah Elliott (love that name) - ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKE O Line Decker - returning starter/potential all american Price - returning starter Boren - returning starter Elflein - returning starter /potential all american Farris - new guy....redshirt senior TE Vannett - returning starter (split time with 3rd round draft pick) WR Smith - tier 1 kick coverage and rotated through starting lineup last year Thomas - was in first team rotation last year, probably the best all-round NFL caliber receiver in the lineup, caught the reverse pass vs bama and has breakaway speed and size, keyshawn johnson's nephew H Back Marshall - small, fast, nimble, made huge plays catching the ball and on WR sweeps last year Wilson - was the starter before he broke his foot against MSU Basically, 1 guy on offense will likely start next year who wasn't a 1st team player. D Line Bosa - ¯\_(?)_/¯ Washington - potential all-american with Bosa Shutt - new guy...senior Lewis - RS Sophomore Linebackers Perry - returning starter, quietly lead the team in tackles last year McMillan - beastmode 5 star sophomore who played < 50% of first string time last year behind a senior Lee - returning starter, 2nd behind bosa in tackles for loss and sacks...qb seeking missle. got to Mariotta at least once and Sims a few times, my favorite defender Safeties Bell - returning starter Powell - returning starter Corners Apple - returning starter Conley - RS soph with mostly garbage time experience but talented Basically the D returns 8 guys that were in the starting rotation (7 were clear starters), lost the primary nickel back to injuries (quitting football/concussions) so in certain packages its not as beautiful but pretty none-the-less. TLDR: There will be only 4 starters in 2015 who weren't in the 1st team rotation last year. RS Senior, Senior, and 2 RS Sophs. Half of them will probably be back in 2016. Now lets not lose to Hawaii or some shit. The expectations are set high, anything less than a repeat will be a bummer. |

There's lots of reasons teams don't repeat often. On paper their chances look good, but on paper won't mean anything by December....which is why this game is awesome. |

Oye. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/668477/Pass-Interference-my-a.251153015_std.jpg The hit was OK, but iirc you can't jam a receiver when the ball is in the air (before the contact in the last seconds). Also, there was a touch of facemask pulling. If the defense holds/jams while the pass is in the air its still pass interference, no? Of course I look at this play through my rose Scarlet colored glasses. Eta I still want bamas completion/fumble on the last drive reviewed. Also, Spencer caught that non-reviewed "incomlletion" on the first drive vs bama. I almost forgot the roughing the punter noncall |
