Why would they drop out? Most top 10 teams have multiple losses at the end of the year. SOS is taken into consideration by the AP I'm thinking simple math by just taking the top 2 teams from the 5 power conferences that play each other in the conference championship games. Just throw in the 2 top teams from the Big 12 since no playoff and a sprinkling of other teams from the other conferences occasionally. That gives you a pretty simple top 10 right there. It's really hard to have 3 there when it's all over. Your just ragging on the SEC in all reality for having so many highly ranked preseason year in and year out. You know, the conspiracy man. |

And since the thread is about to start in earnest this week, I'd just like to say now before we all forget about it in the heat of the season that the reason we're all discussing college football on this forum is because despite the different schools we attended or support, we all love guns and freedom. Everyone is picking Utah, but I think michigan has way more talent than people want to give credit for. It wasn't like michigan missed on every single 4 star player they ever recruited under Rich Rod and Hoke. They just didn't have proper coaching and were definitely not being challenged under Hoke. Very true. When you start listening to and reading all the info that is available these days on team stats, projections, strengths, weaknesses etc, it gets overwhelming very quickly. Around week 3-4 in the season is when it starts getting easier to see who is for real. Then a lot of times conference play starts around that time and screws up what you thought you knew from weeks 1-4. |

I actually thought Herbsteit would be higher too. I might try to take a look at their picks for specific conference match ups later just to see how biased they are, but I have some work to do this afternoon first. |
