This thread has the most spectacularly well defined hook formations and doppler rotation examples I have ever seen, and I've been watching tornados on radar every summer since my early childhood... These pics belong in a textbook. View Quote One mistake people make when looking for hook echos is using composite reflectivity. you generaly need base ref 0.5 degree sweeps. |

Stay safe everybody!
'Naders terrify and fascinate me at the same time, never seen one in person, don't think I ever want to. I will stick to earthquakes thank you very much. |

No way to know until damage assessments can be done. That is determined by engineers observing the damage done and using building techniques of the residential and commercial buildings impacted in the area. Usually takes a week or so for that no to roll out. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

How can you tell its debris? I'll butcher the explanation but here goes: That image is "dual polarization" derived. It isn't just precip, but also basically looks at the regularity of the radar echoes (width vs height, and how those correlate with neighboring echoes). All around it looks mostly like precip, but there's this big ball of something that reflects differently. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
