The Froglube thread got me thinking of some recommendations for Lube.
I have a bottle of Froglube I haven't used much, but I'm worrying about it gumming up after extended time. What do you guys use (besides regular CLP) that you recommend? I have some G98 Gun Oil I've been thinking of repurchasing ... it works great and smells amazing. What else is out there that is newish technology and does a great job? Update: I don't see myself using Mobil-1 or other motor oil because I don't want my guns to smell like my car.
I'm not saying these need to smell as good as G98 but I don't want them smelling like an oily rag. One big consideration is I want this product to stay on and continue to protect while they don't get much use from storage in the safe. View Quote |

Mobil1 if you're cheap.
I prefer Fireclean though, I don't care what anyone else says, it works. |

I have no issues with froglube.
Had it on a rifle that rarely got shot for 8 months and it was fine. Not gummy or rotten like some claim. |

I picked up a new rifle last summer and decided to exclusively use fireclean. Prep and the first few applications were a little time consuming as I did a few applications over the course of a week, but I now clean most of the gun with a paper towel, brush and swab the barrel, and apply another layer of FC. No problems in the heat, cold, rain, snow, etc. It seems to be a really good product. |

One quart of Mobil1 is pretty much a lifetime supply, even if you are young.

I hear good things about Gunzilla. Bought some but haven't used it yet. Apparently it's made here in MI, too.
Currently I use CLP. |

CLP, Fireclean, Mobil 1, Slip2000. They all seem to work fine. Pick the one you like the smell of best.

I have a lifetime supply of Breakfree CLP, so my opinion is biased.
Therefore, I highly recommend Breakfree CLP. |

Mobil 1 is cheap and effective as long as you keep your guns soaked in it. it has no real...staying power?
frog lube is good if you dont somehow clog your gun with it, cant help on how not to, everyone with issues claims to have read the directions...i have had no issues. frog lube is good for being non-toxic, and does work as advertised as long as you dont have globs of it all over the damn place. i dont think it's really worth the hype, but i do like it for my carry guns because it doesnt collect lint/dust/whatever while wearing them. recent interest, but no real long term use - hornady one-shot...stuff's actually really nice. goes on easy, hell of a rust preventative, doesnt gum up, doesnt collect dirty/lint. no real idea how good a job of preventing friction it does though. i'll let somebody else who's used it longer comment on that. |

Use anything you want but NOT WD-40 or Rem Oil.
I miss the old formula CLP, this new stuff seems to evaporate. |

I currently use SLP-0 because I bought enough to last me quite a while. As far as oil goes I use Corrosion-X for guns. It seems to stay put pretty well. |

View Quote Slip 2000 dumped a bunch of swag on me at the 2004 Infantry Conference, so I was very biased towards their products for a long time. I only recently ran out of their stuff, so I'm a big fan of Break-Free now... Because I got a bunch of it at Walmart. |

Slip2000 in the AR. Slide Glide in the pistols. CLP for general use

Breakfree CLP, I lube the gun at the range just before shooting. Smells great too!

OP I've been using Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant for years with success from -8F to over 100 degrees. Works perfect. ETA - Smells faintly of bananas. Available at most bicycle shops. |
