For a while, our parents had us convinced that cheap-o pairs of kung fu shoes were cool.

I still keep a pair around to slip on for a quick trip to the store.

Converse All Stars.  I was in high school before I saw my first pair of Nikes.  The first Nikes I remember were white canvas with a pale blue stripe.  Later they came with either the blue or a black stripe.

When my Dad as in Korea in the 70s ..we'd send him outlines of our feet and he'd send back boxes of shoes..apparently the tailors/shoemakers there could do anything
