Whatever was on sale at the beginning of the school year.

Now I buy New Balance and Asics since they fit the best on my feet.

I had a pair of Reebok Pumps for a few months until they shit the bed.

I wore a lot of lame shoes growing up because I have REALLY wide feet and they didn't make wide sizes for kids in the 80's.  Luckily, the length of my foot caught up and I don't have quite as much trouble finding shoes anymore.

When I was a kid it was whatever was the absolute cheapest and I wore them until they fell apart. .. I don't think I had a pair of name brand shoes until I was a senior in high school or maybe in college. .

Might have been PF Flyers.

I'm not sure, now, as that was a hell of a long time ago.

When I was young back in the 60's, my Mom would buy me the Bo-BO sneakers you would find in a big basket at the Sipermarket. I bet yoy they were 99cents at the time.

Chuck Taylors when I got older..

Probably the same brand Mr. Rogers wore.
Imagine tennis shoes shaped like bowling shoes, only flatter.

I guess that would be keds.

I wore Converse All Stars --  usually low tops, white ones

ETA:  Those and my jeans came from the first floor of the local surplus place.  The upstairs was surplus heaven

Pretty much the same for us.  Kmart or Walmart brands for the most part.

That be "New school".  I be Old school and wore Keds or PF Flyers.  Age 13-16 it was Puma soccer shoes.

I remember as soon as we'd exit the store with my new PF Flyers on I'd do sprints and burn outs in the parking lot to try them out.

Zips.  I loved them; they made me run fast and jump high.  I remember Mom once bought me two pairs of Zips at the same time, a red pair and a blue pair.  I was in hog fucking heaven.

Later she started making me wear Pro Wings from Payless

Keds.

I didn't know there was any other brand at the time.

My parents were on the poor side so my sisters, brother and I all wore no name, bottom barrel, bargain basement, whatever was cheapest shoes/sneakers.

As an adult I can count on one hand the pairs of shoes/sneakers I have. I currently have a pair of Nike sneakers and a pair of Timberland work boots. I bought the sneakers three years ago and the boots two years ago.
