My old man bought me a Griffin Tactical (like the fat dude has on Dual Survival).
I really like it. |

Really? You aren't gonna tell us who made those knives...those look great

Nice looking work. It's not uncommon to find makers using rasps as a strarting point though.

View Quote I've seen and had other knives made from files...just never the farrier rasps...and most the time they were finished all the way down.. saw a really nice dirk / dagger at the renisance one year made from an old bastard file and the sheath and handle were made from purple heart wood...really nice but they wanted like $500.00 for it....these are definitely more to my liking in the 85 to $150 range.. nice piece in your avatar!! |

Looks pretty cool, but I would think the knifes made out of files would be extremely brittle.

OK I am going to be the asshole here. I love these kinds of knives rasps and file steel good old hard carbon I love.
What a effing bitch to clean. It wants to rust and when something like blood sap tar whatever gets down in those. The only thing you can use is a wire brush sometimes with hot water followed by a oil. Cross contamination of food is a real problum. I own several and love them dearly but they don't like me back.I want a slick side knife I can run a rag down and clean off. Ever watch the BBQ pit boys videos. They use it as a spatula, spoon, lid lifter a knife of course and a pot spoon and are dead cheap redneck stuff. All my rasp type knives sit at home. Beautiful work by the way. Take a good stiff brush with you. Always cut the meat last with them. Or everyone gets sick on the salad or potatoes. Just the nature of the beast. But there is extra work involved. But what do I know. |

Never meant to kill it. Great knife, you just have to work with it's design.
Once again beautiful work. |
|
Nice knives.
The line from Predator is actually "Get to the choppa!!" though. |

Never said I didn't like them but it's a labor of love to use them. If you get my drift. |
