There were, as usual, a lot of really cool Jeeps and other SUVs there specially built for rock crawling.  Always neat to see, but just not my cup of tea, y'know?

Anyways, highly recommend a trip to Moab for anyone and everyone.

I'll have you know, Phurba, that my Land Cruiser is capable of going over a curb!

It's astonishing, and all the other Dad's picking up their kids at the daycare give me funny looks while cradling their manpurses tight to their soft chests.

I already have the RMRs. The mount was $87 or so.

I bought two ACOGs this winter, both with RMRs. I'm not really a fan of the RMRs, as it makes for awkward chin/cheek/goatee weld positioning. I'm going to keep an RMR on the AG3 clone and pull the other RMR for testing with the pistol.

Quick question for you - which builder made your MP5? I've been feeling some lust toward a reverse stretch (sbr'd, of course).

Mine has headrest DVD players.

Other than driving around our undeveloped land and shuttling HTF members between the firing line and the targets at HTF shoots, mine pretty much is a soccer-mom-style vehicle. That doesn't bother me at all. It's no different than saying "My guns shoot paper targets" - I have had no need to drive my LC extensively offroad, nor have I had any need to shoot reactive two legged targets.

Certification means nothing to me.    And as long as you're not being a douche, nobody else cares that you're using one of these radios for other part 95 stuff, either.  I did pick up the Pofung UV-82 from KJI at our hamfest.  I kinda like the dual PTT setup on it.

There are some decent ones out there.  For what I need mine to do, they work well.  The biggest complaint I have is front end overload (newer ones are better) and low/muffled audio (again, newer ones are better).  Once I found some speaker mics that had quality elements in them, I was happy with the audio thru external mics too.  I've had lots of chinese HT's over the years.  I'll never buy anything from HYS, they are years behind in quality vs. Wouxun Baofeng and Anytone.

I found reassembly challenging. To get the barrel and slide to lock up properly seemed like an operation designed for someone with three small hands.

Mine's a Coharie CA94.  I think it's about time to start replacing some parts, as I'm having some jamming issues with the gun.  Probably going to swap the bolt head at some point.

Any more, I'd only really look at Chopstix and Ghilliebear from what I've read.  Those two seem to have it cornered.  Oh, also DJ Getz (I think is his name) seems to get a lot of praise.  A reverse stretch would be sexy.

I must have left an RMR mount in my Amazon cart and forgotten about it... as it shipped with an order I placed last night.

I suppose I'll be testing an RMR on one of my Sig handguns. Now to decide between the P220 and the P226... and hopefully the dot will clear the suppressor.

That's a spendy mistake.

Sounds to me like you should buy an FNX, too.

I already have the RMRs. The mount was $87 o so.

Ghilliebear is great, but I believe you need to already have a parts kit.

I've been looking at Chopstix (Dakota Tactical) and DJ Getz.

I figure at this point I'll already be buying MP5 mags to feed the frankengun, so why not get an MP5 as well.

Same here. Offroad to get someplace, yes. Offroad to prove it can be done, no.

There were, as usual, a lot of really cool Jeeps and other SUVs there specially built for rock crawling.  Always neat to see, but just not my cup of tea, y'know?

Anyways, highly recommend a trip to Moab for anyone and everyone.

I'd move there in a heartbeat if there were jobs in my field there.

Not much need for software guys in Moab, though.

I found reassembly challenging. To get the barrel and slide to lock up properly seemed like an operation designed for someone with three small hands.

Have you disassembled and reassembled it yet?

Partially

I haven't had that issue with mine. Yet.
