From what I read in periodicals, he seems pretty hard core and badass in humping it though the wild and hunting dangerous game.  Anyone know anything more about this gentlemen?

He has been one of my favorite gun writers. From what I have read he is hardcore.

Retired a Col. from the US Marine Corps in 2005. Not sure if he was a reservist or how that worked.

Craig is a true outdoors man and a gentleman. I have had the pleasure of being in his company on a few occasions and read his articles frequently in the Safari magazine. I hope to go on a hunt with him some day, we talked in great detail about an ibex hunt last time I saw him.

How odd.. I was going ask about him in the CZ thread just yesterday.

I like his articles. One of the mags put out an all CZ issue a few years ago. He had a couple of write ups on some of their big game rifles. He seemed to really like everything except their accuracy out of the box. In each case he said he had the barrels re-crowned and they were superb after that.

Seems like a great dude. He's living the dream too.

1. Super nice and down to earth.
2. Great rifle shot.
3. Real deal.

Been a few times I've had friends want to meet him, such as at SHOT, when I've gone up and
introduced them to him he has always dropped whatever he was doing and started talking to them
like they were long lost friends.

It was always a pleasure working with him on TV or hanging out with him at events, he
is one of the good people in the industry. I'm lucky to have him as a friend.......

Not to derail,  but what's the deal with that guy writes for one of the mags and claims to be some black ops badass?  John Connor?

I suspect it's gecko45.

Can anyone confirm?

He was a velocity guy, witch played well off the Ross Seyfried heavy bullet high horse power camp.
Their articles were like peanut butter and jelly.I still keep every G&A mag that they both had a article in.
Both are fine writers and sportsmen.

Never heard of him. However with a name like that he should dress in gear and/or carry a rifle that Theodore Roosevelt would have...

When I used to read Guns & Ammo, I always enjoyed his articles (he was "just" a Lt. Col. / Colonel back then).  He seemed down to earth and just somebody you'd want to hang out with.  I bought his book "Make It Accurate", which is a good introductory text on how to, well, make your rifle more accurate.

He was frocked to and wore 1 star while commanding CJTF-CM for over a year, the problem was the senate never confirm his promotion causing an anonymous IG against him, Gen Hailston and Gen Hagee

I have a book from him on his elephant hunting trips. He used to say when elephant hunting you must get as close as you can possibly handle, then get 10 yards closer
