If I was in that situation I would find a new job. I have finished several degrees and believe in lifelong continuing education so opportunities are always there if needed.
As long as I stay where I'm at I will retire at 47-48 so I'm happy

Bet a coiled rubber snake and place it in the toilet in the women's restroom, the screams and hilarity ensueing will make you sleep like a baby Does your male boss carry around paperwork, like stacks and stacks. Got to a porno store and get gay magazines and cut out explicit pics of gay sex and intersperse it , he will be embarrassed Spray excrement odor on a dollar bill on the floor, when they pick it up they will smell like shit |

I have a job that a lot of people think is cool but sucks....
I focus on things that I enjoy doing every evening and weekend I also have a beautiful fiancée that I can't wait to get home to everyday. Work just makes it that much better when I get home. Humble brag post I know, sorry. |

I just recently left a job I despised, but while I was still there the amount I money made it worth while. The people I worked with also made it slightly more bearable. I wasn't staring at a computer though, I was working like 60hrs a week and constantly busy from the time I got there to when I left. Which keeping busy also made it the time pass far quicker.

You've got to stop doing it. I tried to get a different job when I hated mine - but I was overqualified to work at target. That's actually why they wouldn't hire me -- ?!? Our company would send you to free counselors if you asked and I did. The lady listened to me for about half of an hour and suggested that I quit.
It might not be easy - I had to go back to school so I could enter a completely different field and I have had zero regrets. Zero. |

Seriously though... I absolutely love my normal job but I despise my current duties. The upper-management has caught on to the fact that I can perform virtually every position in the company (within reason- I wouldn't want to take on a VP's role quite yet) with a reasonable amount of competency. We'll just write that off to having parents who cared about my education... I've been getting shuffled around to fill-in for people we fired for several months now and it's just fucking horrible. It basically means that I have to learn a new job about once a month, while still trying to handle my actual position. I routinely work between 12 and 30 hour shifts and then I get treated like an asshole when I can't show up for work (because I had to sleep) every once in a while. I don't mean to sound the least bit stuck-up when I say that I'm an extremely capable employee; but I've been misappropriated for many months now and it's really starting to wear on me. The only reason that I stay at this point is for the money. I literally make more money than I know how to spend. |

You sound a lot like me. I have grown to hate my job. I do it, and I do it well because that's what they pay me for. But a lot of the time is spent goofing off and doing busy work. I can get most of my work done in a few hours. The rest of the day is spent answering questions from direct reports and responding to emails for info/assistance. A lot of the questions are frankly stupid. Things that if the person had bothered to turn on a brain cell they could have figured out for themselves.
For the past few years I've been getting stress related illnesses (migraines, digestive problems, etc). The problems have been getting more frequent and more severe. So why don't I just quit? Well, I get paid very well. I'd have to start over and take a pay cut (like half). But the main reason I don't quit is I only have 2 years until I can take early retirement. Just trying to hang in until then. |

Then I also have to weigh-in that we offer a "niche" service and even though it's extremely lucrative when done right, it's not extremely transferable in today's market. I honestly don't know where I'd go if I were fired tomorrow... I guess I'd go back to FL and make shit-wages, doing whatever...
