I thought the Wranger model was Jeeps only 100% 4x4 line but I'm seeing an ad from a private party for a 2-wheel drive 4-door Wrangler?

Ad is wrong or there are 2x Wranglers?

Unfortunately they do exist.

Yes there are.

You can blame suburban soccer moms who want the Jeep look and feel, but without needing its capabilities.

yep, they made the 4 doors in 2wd.
straight axle.

The 2 door is also available in 2WD.

I think they dropped them in the last year or so due to low sales, They also made the DJ's in 2 WD for the usps.

Yes.
They were actually prefered by guys that were going to build custom rock crawlers.
I think they quit making them in 2007 or 2008.

A guy in Corpus bought a 2wd Rubicon from a used-car stealership.

some rock crawler guys did, since they were going to swap out the axles, T/C, and trans out anyways.

Exactly.
The model was popular with them beause they were not wasting money on an axle and transfer case they were going to replace anyways.
The same guys would have been tickled pink if they could buy them without any axles.

That makes sense, had never thought of it that way.

Otherwise, I hate 2wd "faux by fours".

Probably 75% of the 6 lug Tacomas around here are "prerunners", one of the reasons that prices on used 4x4 ones are nuts is because lots of people bought for the look rather then the capability. And it isn't as simple as slapping a transfer case, front diff and a couple of axle shafts in to convert one to 4wd.

Faux by fours and CUVs are the reason that finding used base material to build off road projects off of is getting and will get much more scarce in the years to come.
I was unaware of the 2wd Jeep thing, that I definitely do not understand.

The vast majority of Camaros, Challengers and Chargers sold are V6.  Insurance and fuel are why.

There were 4wd DJs, mostly in Alaska.
I have never seen one in the flesh but they do (or did) exist.
