I'm talking ammo labeled or intended for "self defense" purposes. Yeah yeah, FMJ will work too but to me, FMJ/ball ammo is training/plinking ammo.

In my CCW I ran 500 rds of ball without a stoppage before I bothered with and JHP's. Since JHP's cost a lot more I think I only ran about 50-100 through it.
Due to cost and now availability I believe I only have about 2 boxes of 9mm Winchester Rangers along with a box of HST's.

All I got left in 45 is the 9 rounds to top it off with some HST's.

About 2 boxes of Federal Urban Tactical in 223.

30 power Shok 12ga slugs
15 federal tactical 12ga slugs
5 Federal 12ga '00

That's it for "defensive" ammo...

Around 200 rounds of speer gold dots loaded in mags, more brown box buckshot than i can imagine needing and a couple thousand rds of m855- it has the green tip=defensive round

I've got enough to keep my carry guns and spare mags full.

Maybe a couple spare rounds here and there that didn't fit in the mags.

I like to keep at least 250 9mm HSTs and 3 30rd mags of BH 50 gr TSX on hand. More is better.

One box, something like 20 - 25 rounds. I ran a couple boxes through the gun to make sure they were reliable and haven't touched the remainder since, I stick with FMJ's for plinking and competition.

Once I'm confident that a gun can run a certain brand, no more than 20-40.

At least I'm not the only one who only has enough rounds to keep carry guns running with good JHPs.

147gr HST in the 19 and 17 with a spare 17 mag and 124gr in the 26.

Planning on getting a few boxes of 147gr in the upcoming weeks.

Hardly any.  I have two loaded mags each for a G26 and G35.  One AR magazine of TAP.  And whatever is leftover in the boxes, maybe like 50 or so all together.  I shoot them off maybe every two years.

My ammo fort is all FMJ and some dreaded green tips.  "Defensive Ammo" is definitely a weak point in my preps.  Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I buy 50 rounds of Hornady 147gn XTP to the stash monthly.  It's actually a line item in my budget.

I have 200 rounds of Hornady Critical Duty 9mm +P 135 gr and 200 of the IMI MK262 clone loaded in magazines. Thousands of ball ammo also.

124 +P. I'd get 147s if my wife's pistol didn't hate them.

ETA: assuming I could actually find the 147s.

I reload jhps to factory specs to practice/break in a gun.

Keep a 2 or 3 mags worth of factory ammo is SD guns.

Shoot & replace factory ammo annually.

Ahhhh you are okay then.

In all seriousness I may have ordered a case or two or three of the government contract overrun Winchester Ranger 9mm 147 gr SXT from SGammo when he had it in stock a few months ago.

This.

Plus, while I prefer JHP or the like, I'm not above shooting someone with FMJ from a rifle or pistol if it's all I got in the house.

Not to metion 00 buck 12g.

I found .45cal 230gr XTP's on sale last year for 17bucks and bought 1k of them.  I had to buy some new brass to do it, but the boxes are all empty.

About 700 147+p HST and double that of 147 ranger, along with some other gold dot, black hills with Barnes, 9bple.

About the same in .45

Well, I bought my hollow points at the cop shop (GT Dist).
Do the cops know they are supposed to use them against each other?

Also, the cop ammo comes in boxes of 50 for about the same price as a box of 20 at the regular gun store.

I have at least a dozen boxes for 9, 40 and 45.

1000's.  I have no idea really.  9mm, 40, .45, 44, .357, 12 ga, 5.56, .308, etc.

Once I got my SHTF ammo squared away, I bit the bullet and spent the cash on premium stuff.  Still (always) buying too.

I was going more with finding them! The shops around here always had a ton of Gold Dots but hardly and HST's and they were usually 124's. It was easier to find 230's for the 45.

About this, but I define carry gun as anything I could carry, and have a holster to do so.

So that includes some guns that I've never carried, and may never. (For a while, I was searching for a 'boat gun', a quality firearm that I didn't pay too much for, so if I had the 'boating accident', it didn't cost me too much. I have a few 'boat guns')

I unload the mags into coffee cups when I go to the range.

Oh, and I forgot. My reloads are HP's. They really aren't that much more expensive, in bulk, than FMJ's. I don't normally carry them, but...
