In the scary movie thread I posted that movies just don't scare me. It is because I have been to interceptor rooms like this. You are looking at two 8" sewers (the poop kind) slamming into a concrete tumbler block before tuning downward for a 300' drop into the deep tunnel. There is no possible rescue, your body will be pulled from the screen at Jones Island.  Fuck movies, seeing that in person is a white knuckle feeling.

Reminds me of my time in Burgundy France.

The town we lived in was occupied by Romans at one time.

Almost all the houses in town were connected by Roman sewers.

A lot were closed off after WW2.

Under our house the "basement" was about 20-30ft high arch shape of white marble bricks.

The stairs were marble to the surface and steep enough to rappel down using the rope handrail.

Also in town was the footprint of a Coliseum bigger than the one in Rome .
Lots of aquaducts as well.

Plus WW1 trenches and bomb craters,

Vy am I dripping vif goo?

We used to explore many of the storm drains that went under the neighborhood I grew up in. On foot until we realized you could fit a bicycle down there (tunnels were about 4-5 ft tall. We used to use beater bikes in case we had to ditch them, added baskets to carry the gigantic Ray-O-Vac lanterns we had. Later on we found a (probably stolen) abandoned Honda scooter that we got running and used to ride it in parts of the tunnels.

Even storm drains are not immune to gas buildup. Methane was a real concern from decomposing organic matter (leaves mostly). Normally it was safe in the summer, most of the fall leaves were washed out by winter and spring storms so that is when we used to go in there. We even made a crude map of the tunnels with entry/exit points marked on them and figured out how to get practically everywhere in our little town via the drains.

It was illegal to be in the storm drains. Couple of buddies caught (juvenile) criminal trespass cites for getting caught in there. Now post 9-11 I bet getting caught in the storm drains would get you a trip to gitmo or something.

We must have gone in those things from about 11 years old until I was 13-14 and once in all those years did I see the water run full bore in them. It was immediately after a hurricane passed over Long Island. The storm had passed so we went to see how our "fort" and BMX track had fared in the storm. The drains had an entrance right by the track and the water was flowing full height out of both 5ft drains. It was amazing to see that much water moving that fast.

That sounds pretty awesome.  Do you have any photos? It's a long shot but I have to ask.

Same hobby here, I have explored Milwaukee's storm sewers, steam tunnels, deep tunnel, and others extensively for many years. Published a book, had a few art shows, it's all good fun.

My photos are at www.undermke.com

What's the story here?

The Glock-style gun in an Italian 8mm starter pistol. The weird breech block gives it away. The Ruger is a Ruger.

Also, new pic.
