I have no idea how I've never seen this before. It's pretty amazing.

From mission conception through air sea rescue...and no actors...just guys with huge balls.

Enjoy. It's certainly worth a watch. I've seen newsreel shorts and short training films, but this is a full length hour and 1/2 movie.

I'm humbled..

The part towards the end where the groups were returning and they were talking about 10 planes not making it back...when you multiply that by 10 crewmen per plane...that's 100 men not coming back.

The squadron I am assigned to created that video.  The 1st Motion Picture Unit became what is now known as the 1st Combat Camera Squadron.  Cool stuff.

They were really prolific during the war. They had training films on every little detail about everything.

that video and "The Last Bomb" from 1945 are pretty good.

Also look at "The Fighting Lady" from 1945 and "The Battle of Midway" from 1942

I was there last August. About the only thing I had time to do while there. I was surprised at how small a B-47 actually is.

Do yo live in the area Larry? My daughter and sil just bought a house a Guyton.

My wife's uncle was with the 8th .  Flew many missions .

He had the rank Major.  He did not fair well.

He spent most of his time after the war in mental institutions.

He relived the war in his mind everyday.

Yep, great films. My personal favorite is "The Fight for the Sky" (1945). The best collection of ETO gun camera footage ever assembled. I watch it while jogging on the treadmill at the gym.
